Is it that hard for them to implement MVP's pressure sensitive check swing? I'm really fed up with this year after year. Screw the swing stick!!!! I like the button. I just don't get why this isn't in the game. How is it on MLB? I'm not switching games but I would like to know.

I'm not a fan of 2k's implementation of classic swing check swings (or really, lack of it, since it doesn't work in practice)

The Show's check is as you describe, pressure sensitive when you use button swinging. Varied across the 3 swing types (power is hard to check, normal is easier, and contact swings are very easy to check)

As a classic batting guy, I miss this too. It was also in MVP 05, and done very well. I like the idea of pressure sensitive, but I have little faith that 2K will ever add this as they are just throwing us classic batting people a bone by adding it anyway. You cannot use classic hitting in online play, and I don't use the hit stick... I know some of you will say I need to learn it, but I really love the classic hitting and the bat-on-ball physics (location, pitch type, pitch break) are done very, very well this year.

I think it would be smart for 2K to add the pressure sensitive check swing. It only makes sense.

But the swing stick isn't even hard to use, and it makes the check swing work intuitively perfect. I'm a total dork for watching more simple controls. I hated the shot stick for NHL 09, and I still can't use the LS to aim. NBA 2K11 just baffles me. In baseball games, I think cursor batting can provide more perfect physics, but is a terrible mechanic.

But once 2K eliminated the need to time pulling back on the stick, it is as simple as pressing a button. I thought that the timing for stepping into the pitch was an unnecessary hurdle.

It seriously boggles my mind how pushing up on the right stick, in one motion is somehow hard than pressing down on a button. But what it can do is make the check swing perfect. Much more perfect than MVP 05 did with the pressure sensitive button.

Now, I can understand guys wanting to use button pitching. It especially hard this year since they have the variable location tuned so well. The gestures are weird. I love them, but it makes total sense that some folks won't like it.

But this aversion to the swing stick is really weird. I wish 2K would fix the check swing for you guys so we don't have to hear about it anymore.

You cannot use classic hitting in online play..

You can use it online for custom games.

I'm a little lost. Are you for the swing stick or for button pressing? And the guy before you never said that the swing stick LACKED bat on ball physics. I think the physics as a whole are ok in this game. We just want a legitimate pressure sensitive check swing. Your last sentence reads like you are mad at us for even asking for this. LOL I don't think this falls in the category of wanting dreads in NCAA football (although I am one of those people), but it is fundamental to batting and it should be in the game as a WORKING part of the batting system.

Even if you hold up successfully and the pitch ends up out of the zone, it gets called a strike. I've tested it like 25 times.... I think the patch broke it.

Hal... I would appreciate it if you RE-read my post. I NEVER put down swing stick, and I did NOT compare the two batting options. I simply stated that the bat-on-ball physics are well done with classic hitting (but I never said they weren't well done on swing stick...I wouldn't know because I don't play it that way). So, where did you get I was bashing stick hitting?

Actually, you're the one who's downplaying the option that you don't like if you want to really compare our posts. Again, don't label my thoughts. I responded to this topic with a thought and you painted my thoughts as something other than they were intended. What display settings do I change? Because check swings are DEFINETLY broken for me.

Even if I hold up on a pitch that ends up out of the zone, it goes as a strike 100% of the time.

I NEED check swings to work, what should I change?

This has completely ruined the game for me...

So can i put it on 2k10 presentation and see check swings correctly or no?

Will that work?

I dont care if I need to do button swinging or stick swinging... I just want check swings to work.

Uggg... I cant tell you how bummed I am about this.

Plus at this point I'm so trained to check my swing 2-4 times a game, I'm now automatically giving myself 2-4 extra strikes a game!


If ANYONE knows any way to get check swings to function properly please let me know.

they didn't work before the patch, for classic swing anyway. Unless you go into the pitch knowing you are going to check swing, it doesn't work, and even then....it's iffy.
