Because the game sold absolutely terribly, and there is no way 2k didn't lose money making it.

They are in contract, they have to develop a game while they hold a license.

Put Kershaw on the Tigers and he might very well be a bigger star than Verlander. Verlander won 24 with Tigers and Kershaw won 21 with Dodgers!

Anyway, it's not really that important who is on the cover, the inside (disc) is the most important thing.

I didn't say Verlander is a much better pitcher. I said he's a bigger star. Kershaw is going to win the Cy Young, and is as good as anyone in baseball.

Which game of 2K's sold terribly, MLB 2K11? If it was due to poor marketing , I'm not surprised. I haven't seen your entire contribution to this thread, so I won't make the assumption that you are referring to the gameplay. Basing my opinion on the opinions of others here (who love The Show in comparison to 2K11), I have to say that 2K11 is NOT that bad of a game. It does have flaws, yes, but it's got a hell of a lot more 'life' to it (and the ability to make you FEEL like you're a GM if that's your cup of tea) than The Show does. And, I've played both products, as much as I needed to in order to make a valid personal judgement of which product was better, AND I've been gaming pretty extensively (mostly sports and RPG) for the greater part of two decaded, so I'm confident that I'm not the only one who feels that many refuse to give 2K credit where it's due. 2K, for the most part, has produced baseball games that SUCKED, but that was not the case last year.

I've bought MLB 2K every year (I own XBox 360) for the past 3 or 4 years. 2K11 was good but it did not blow me away the way NBA 2K11 did in every aspect. I love baseball and baseball video games but I really want them to make a leap the way NBA 2K did last year. Gameplay, presentation, and graphics are going in the right direction but I think they could do more and really push for the best baseball game on the market. Unless its a big change this coming year this will be the first year I skip 2K baseball.

I'm assuming it was towards me. Honestly, if you want a game for arcade style baseball that has glitches, MLB 2K might be what you want. Realism wise, don't even speak MLB 2K's name around The Show, please, I might be on the floor laughing for hours. The Show is polished and is probably going to release a game this spring that will demolish 2K if their brave enough to put a game on the shelves.

I would love for 2 good baseball games, but it just is unlikely. The Show's team has already said this next game is focused on tons of new animations, features and dedicated to the Franchise users. If they put an in depth franchise mode and add some good commentary and visuals, MLB 2K has nothing on The Show in my honest opinion.

The nba contract isn't exclusive. I believe it's year to year.

Yeah, I was just going to comment on that. They have an "exclusive" contract, and thus they have to put out a game and certain "other games" under the license. It was discussed not too l ago about it.

The commentary in 2K11 is absolutely great! When I was playing that game, the commentary always made it interesting, and even gave a few laughs here and there. Just thinking about it now, I am going to get out my 2K11 tonight and give it another go.
