If MLB 2K12 BUILDS onto MLB 2K11 we ...

are in for a treat. There are definitely some statistical bugs (and bugs in displaying statistics) in MLB 2K11, but it really is a fun game to play. I played five games with my Reds last night (11-5, 2nd place behind Brewers who are 12-6), and struggled in each game with the Pirates while I had a GREAT game against the Diamondbacks (came from behind 4 times in a 11 inning 12-11 game at Cincinnati). The commentary is really good, though a little delayed. The pitching looks GREAT, the hitting looks GOOD, the fielding looks OK. While I would love for MLB 2K12 to have a 1-pitch mode (to speed up games), I will be very happy if 2K works on things like making the cpu less aggressive at the plate and making the statistics and roster management more accurate and realistic. Anyone else here still enjoying the game?

I would like cleaner graphics models and way better fielding animations and just fix fielding in general. Also the default pitch speed is too slow, makes online a giant hit fest cuz the timing window is way too big.

My age is increasing, my response time is going the other way. I wonder where the breaking point occurred. (trying to think which game I played last that required a lot of my time, oh that's it, Need For Speed, Hot Pursuit ... before that, probably Super Bases Loaded II on SNES)

LOL. I can see where veterans of the series have been annoyed. After two years of 2K baseball I'm tired of very basic baseball functions being broken in this game. To ship a game without errors, have horrible fatigue issues and bugs is just garbage. MLB 2K is a fun game to play but after awhile the problems creep up and the long term replayability gets hurt. I think I'm going to pass on 2K12.

2K11 did improve on a lot of things over 2K10. But the one area I am not happy with is how they reduced hitting to going the opposite way on every pitch on the outer half. It's not realistic and it results in far too many opposite field HRs. Guys in MLB will pull outside pitches for HRs an awful lot and most small to medium HR hitters will rarely hit an opposite field HR. If this isn't fixed I am definitely not buying this year.

One way to fix that I believe is to allow batters to "cheat" inside or outside. This shouldn't be an obvious thing like moving the batter within the box but rather a strategy mechanic before your swing (ie press square to cheat outside). If a batter cheats outside he should be allowed to pull a lot of outside pitches easily (shift his strike zone over by 25%) but get eaten up on inside pitches. If a batter cheats inside it should make him easier to turn on those inside pitches for HRs but whiff badly on an outside pitch. This would really add some strategy to the game. We all know most pitchers will pitch guys away but have to come inside periodically to keep batters honest. This strategy has been absent in baseball games since batters were forced to stand in the same spot and has led to far too many opposite field HRs in baseball games.

I still really enjoy playing this game, but there are definitely some areas that could be improved upon, most of which being a game without significant bugs at launch.

Little things like check swings never working are unacceptable and are easy to discover/fix. Having that bug being caused by a patch is even more confounding.

The game just needs a whole lot of attention detail, before release. Every year, I give this game a chance, and every year there is just a laundry list of bugs that make the game unacceptable. I want it to be viable alternative to "the other game" because slogging through having to play 162 games in franchise mode is tedious.

I like the in and out, faster pace of the game and being able to customize my season length to play ashorter season, but the bugginess of the game on an annual basis, is really troubling

Some of the faces are truly awful. And the base running animations are still lousy. They need to be much smoother and have the players actually round the bag. They look like a WR running a square in.

2k11 is really the only 2k baseball game I've played. I tried 2k9 and it was horrible and it kind of put me off 2k10. I hope 2k12 stays the same hitting and pitching wise.

I agree. The running animations are terrible. I really hope they fix it.

I'd like more fielding views, I really didnt like the default view this year where you had the home plate view for the shots to the outfield. ugh!

They did fix that with the patch. I think you could use 3 options.

Ya they added in 2k9 (very high) and 2k10 (what most people are used to the basic baseball game fielding view)

I actually liked using the new view for offense.
