re: MLB 2K12 - PC Impressions

Sounds like 2k12 isn't much of an upgrade over 2k11. I'll probably stick with my PC version of 2k11, unless they have another super deal ($3!) like they did with the PC version of 2k10.

Is there manager mode in 2k12 PC? If not can I set everything to auto to kind of create my own manager mode? Is there a one pitch option to get games played quickly? Does the CPU handle pinch hitting and pitching changes appropriately? As a guy who plays strictly as the manager is this game worth buying?
No manage mode, no one-pitch mode. 2K baseball is definitely not a game for manage mode players.

Wouldn't count on it. The best deal was on amazon. I preordered ME3 and got a $10 discount. So with amazons deal I got it for like $16.

It's very familiar but I think the extra polish this year warrants an upgrade!

re: MLB 2K12 - PC Impressions

I am running on a Core-I7 and a GTX570 with everything maxed out and it plays great....just like last years only smoother. There does not appear to be any hitch in the framerate as reported. WHich is great since I was concerned. They did remove some of the cameras from the baserunning section, but at least they offer a "follow ball" camera that does a really great job. I've always preferred longet shots that see more of the field but this works out okay.

Overall, it seems like a mild update to 2k11....at least on the surface. The player models look basically the same and I do not notice anything different about the field/stadium initially. Overall I am happy that it doesn;t appear to have stepped backwards.

Oh...one little thing that I noticed is it seems as though the pitch gestures are a bit more sensitive and perhaps delayed. I sometimes try to start the gesture almost instantly after picking my pitch and it doesn't register the initial motion. I have to start it again. In last years game I just whipped through this really quick. Admittedly I sometime accidentally started gestures when not ready....so maybe they are forcing a short delay as to not catch false starts of the pitch gesture.

Thanks. I'll post more when I can.

Need a little help here. How do you turn off the stupid "help" pop ups during the first couple of innings. Like how to pitch, hit, throw accuracy bar...etc...etc. I did it easily on the 360 version, but cant seem to find it on the PC version.

I think they just go away eventually.

So, I played 3 games of the Show on the Vita today at work, and I came home and fired this up. My God this game is stunning, the colors, the lighting, etc are incredible.

After Private messaging WTF...I finally took the plunge and bought it online.

I would love to get some online matches with you...

Impressions - I'm a 2k fan so I can honestly say I just love baseball...

Graphics on this game are horrible, but in the long run mods will help a lot. For now it is what it is.

Gameplay is great as it always is..I was just hoping for more. Feels like 2k11 with a new coat of paint...

But it's fun none the less and I'm loving it.

                    I thought you were passing.

I agree though, game is a lot of fun. Not pretty, but in motion, it actually animates pretty well.

I got to have my Baseball and I don't have a PS3...so you know how that is....

It's fun, but it just feels rehashed...

I just added about 7 mods to it from mvpmods.com and so far I'm liking it a tad better...especially with the color fix rosters.

                        love the color fix!

I still am trying to wrap my head around how they can blatantly make the colors so wrong. I'm not usually one to nitpick, but the bright blue is just so obnoxiously wrong it really does take you out of the game and makes it hard to enjoy.

With only the in game settings maxed out my gameplay is flawless. If i get into my nvidia settings and bump up transparency and AA to x16, x32 etc., I get a minimal fps hit on foul balls. One thing I did notice though, cut scenes in between batters do not take the fps hit like last year!

All in all, the game is a steal for the price and plays much better than last year albeit extremely familiar.
I'll probably be picking this up next week. Really looking forward to your guys' mods. Downloaded a ton of mods last year. Especially the equipment/uniform mods add a ton for me.

Yeah I know I did the same thing with the NBA Rosters using Reditor 3...

I have a Guru version for the NBA 2k12

I might do the same for MLB 2k12...But I'm sure the guys at MVPMODS will do everything for me and save me 20 bucks...lol

2k is horrible with colors...how hard is it to make sure RED isn't PINK and NAVY BLUE isn't SKY BLUE? Seriously!!!

re: MLB 2K12 - PC Impressions

bought the game off of steam after giving up looking for a disc version. Got a game in tonight (won 4-3) and found it a bit better than 2k11.

Absolutely loved the amount of foul balls (default pro level sliders, by the way.) I thought it was quite realistic and helped up the pitch counts.

I also didn't have a problem with the "delay" (for lack of a better term) that is built into the game before delivering a pitch that I've read here and on other sites. Sure, it slows the game down a tiny bit, and you might accidentally throw a wild pitch or mess up your analog gesture, but I felt that it simulated the entire process of getting the sign from the catcher, accepting the sign, and THEN making your delivery (windup or set position.) In real life, a pitcher does not get the sign and just go. There IS a slight delay.

I DID, however, have a problem with the lack of a "dead zone" on the analog stick when making throws on defense. I gave up 3-4 infield hits when a player would start the throw to first base and then throw to 3rd instead because the game "read" the analog stick being released and move into the "throw to 3rd base zone" of the stick. Either more of a dead zone needs to be added or I just need more practice at the new throw meter (probably the latter, but others have this same issue.)

The reliever warmup "bug" isn't that big of a deal to me. Would I take a fix that made it more like 2k11? You betcha. But this is so minor to me right now.

Is it me or do the jerseys look like they have LESS detail in them? Almost like they are painted on the players? I can't see the fabric detail like I did last year. Or at least not as much detail.

Overall, I like the game. Really want to play the MLB Today Season mode, but there is zero point until the regular season starts since you play with the same lineup and same starting pitcher for every game of spring training. And I can't figure out how to change uniforms for that game mode.

And I love that I am getting 148 fps with everything maxed out in the settings. And I have NOT seen any stuttering or frame rate issues that others have reported. So I'm happy about that.

Also noticed that there IS a create a team feature. I didn't mess around with it very much but it is there. Don't know what you can do with it though.

you are 100% correct on the Jerseys they are embedded and pasted. No cloth appearance what so ever and when you zoom in replay mod they get blurry...

                                Less detail than 2k11....
