re: MLB 2K12 - PC Impressions

Quick question. First year I bought this on PC instead of 360 and I love the way it runs so far but I notice a touch of frame rate choppiness during cutscenes and foul balls. I bought as an Amazon download. Do I have to do something to get any patches 2k releases from within the game or does it check when the game starts? It didn't look like any patches were applied when I first ran it.

    Thanks!

try enabling vsync and lowering MSAA to 4. I have very similar computer specs. Mine also downloaded from amazon runs at a constant 60fps

Yeah, I'm with you. That's my favorite part of PC gaming, the ability to print stats and rosters. I loved doing that with High Heat baseball and the Front Page Sports series. I miss developers designing for the PC, rather than just porting.

Does 2k12 require more horsepower to run than 2k11?

I think they are pretty close. I am willing to bet if you could run 2k11 just fine, you'll run 2k12 just fine.

I would love to give this game a shot but apparently 2K has decided to not release it in Australia this year and its even region locked on Steam. I guess they don't want my money. A heavily modded 2K11 will have to be my baseball game on PC.

Why don't you use a VPN to bypass the region lock and purchase the game on Steam?

Buy from amazon - just set some random US address (doesn't have to be real) and download from there.

                  I grabbed it from there.

Yeah sometimes game devs can be a holes.

                  PS
Just had a quick q... I understand the dynamic pitcher system affects the "number" (i.e. rating) of a particular pitch (can go up down), but what does it mean when the actual pitch icon (i.e. the area where the motion of the pitch is indicated) changes color? I've had it change from red to green to the normal blue, anyone know what this means?

The colors represent how effective that pitch is

I looked for this mod over at MVPmods, and couldn't locate it. Where is it at if you don't mind me asking?

Colour means you are using that pitch too much. So the cpu will get an advantage if its red.... i guess its like a human getting the pitch type flashing while we bat.

Because I'm terrified of Steam banning my account and then me losing $1000 worth of games.

Steam will not ban your account because of VPN use. It's verified. If you're still have doubts purchase it via Amazon by using a random real US address.
