    Re: Baserunning AI

I was not using auto-running but did have trouble with the CPU auto-tagging up or holding guys on shallow fly balls that the infielder had no chance at. They would then get thrown out by the outfield because they waited so long to go. There is a setting that I disable so runners do not auto tag. Now I just have to watch on flyballs and make sure I control the tag up.

I use auto base-running and saw a real winner last game. Matt Kemp reached first on a grounder that got past the first baseman, barely, just a few feet away, so Kemp starts for second and is thrown out. But, that's not all. Dee Gordon was on second base and never moved so what was the point of Kemp even trying for second?

Re: Baserunning AI - the Latest

I've got a runner on first with one out.
It's 2 balls and 1 strike so I figure it's a good time for a hit and run.
I lead off, hold the steal trigger.
As the pitch starts for the plate I release the trigger and my runner takes off.
The hitter swings and hits a chopper over the mound.
I figure, okay, I'll have a runner in scoring position with two outs.
BUT NO! All of a sudden the runner going to 2nd screeches to a halt and heads back for 1st!!
        What????
The second basemen comes behind the mound and flips (awkwardly I might add) to 2nd then they go to first. My baserunner that was on first heading for 2nd is now stuck between the two.
        Result? Double play

The only thing I can figure is the runner AI took the chopper to be a pop-up? On the replay it's easy to see that the hitter hit it on the ground in front of the plate.

Ahhhh! This baserunner AI is driving me crazzzy!

Any chance you may have lightly tapped the R trigger which would cause the runner to retreat back to 1st?

Confident I didn't because I was satisfied with getting him to second with two outs.

If this was the only issue I had experienced (or as this thread indicates - are being experienced by others) I probably wouldn't have even mentioned it and just laughed if off. But it's become a "no laughing matter."

Is the animation causing him to be slower, or is he running the same speed if the animation looked correctly? I'm doing my player, and my player is running so slow that I've been thrown out at 2nd off a base hit because it takes him forever to start actually running
My player would be a different animal than a regular game. Your Baserunning "Accelration" rating is so slow in my player to start which is why I think it looks like your guy is running slow.

Unless you start with a speed role, your myplayer will require a lot of ratings increases in the baserunning dept.

                Re: Baserunning AI

bout to try Auto baserunning because the controols are so convoluted, its killing my rallies.

                Questions:
Can you override the AUTO baserunning?
If so, then this question is irrelevant but will the AI attempt steals for your team at a normal rate?

It's very quick to switch from auto to manual running when playing in game. On auto the cpu will atempt to steal often with high speed rated players. Sometimes i'll switch from auto to manual when i want to attemp a steal with a certain player.

I have not found that to be the case in my franchise. In around 35 games, Matt Kemp has stolen one base, and I think he was caught once. He stole 40 bases last year.
