    Re: Pitching Too Easy?

thanks for the tips on simming, and I do play computer sims like ootp or strat. But I prefer the video game side of things over those types of games.

I know that this thread is not about simming, but the lack of offense is a definite issue any way you look at it.
I don't sim and I have tried every slider setting suggestion out there but either the offense is way too jacked up for both sides or almost nonexistant for both sides. I have 2k11 set perfect but I can not find anything close to perfect in 2k12.

I thought I read on here someone who posted a few years of stats, seemed fine to me?

Depends on what you mean with "fine". There were several stats in those seasons the guy simmed that simply had nothing to do with "realism".

I simmed some seasons for myself and noticed some really unrealistic things happening. This started with some games into the season and ended with the endpoint of my simming period.

I think this game would have great potential if there wouldn't be so many broken ratings and if the developers had put more effort in some details.

The little details are what hurts this game.

In some areas the game is very realistic, in other areas it is simply unrealistic as hell. When I want to play a realistic baseball game I demand the best player in real to be the best players in the game - in simmed games and in played games.

That is often not the case.

well with the power and contact jacked up a bit for the CPU, now they are rocking and rolling. Still a bit short on HRs' but I will stick with the slider adjustments. At least thy are scoring runs at a nice clip now.

Probably has a lot more to do with the AI than the ratings. If your 1 inning relievers constantly pitch 3 or more innings that will skew things. That's why I never really concern myself with results from simming in any game. If you get 2 thinking humans head to head the results will probably be a lot more realistic. AI's can never play any game as well as a human can.

I play out all my games, but I can see what you mean. I don't think The Show is any better with regards to simmed stats, but I might be wrong.

Pitching too Easy? Try pitching with Joe Blanton lol. My home opener with the Phillies was Blanton against the Marlins. Through 4 innings Blanton gave up 9 hits and 4 runs, all earned, on 3 doubles and 6 singles.

My previous game was my first loss with the Phillies. Got shutout by Pittsburgh 2-0. Cole Hamels pitched great, but made one mistake on a 2-seam FB and it was knocked for a 2-run HR by Yamaico Navarro.

Nope. Using MK's sliders I've been rocked for 9 runs on 18 hits and other times I've pitched a 4 hit shutout. But out of the box, I would say that yes, pitching is too easy.

Regardless of MK's sliders I do find strikeouts to be high. Even with CPU contact jacked up I'm averaging around 10 K's a game (real MLB average is around 7).

Have you tried to lower the the user pitch break? Perhaps that could help.

Other than that I get a lot of Ks, too. I noticed that this has a lot to do with the CPU power swinging at lots of pitches. The higher the player's power rating the more likely it is that he power swings even on questionable pitches. E.g. Matt Kemps strikes out against me in 2-3 of 5 times. The other times he hits it hard. It goes the same way with other power hitters, e.g. Carlos Gonzalez, Ryan Braun, etc.

I think this has also a lot to do with the power slider. MKharsh has it at 80 for the cpu I think, or was it 90. This is okay basically, but this causes some Ks. If you lower the power slider you should notice less Ks, but also less HRs from the cpu.

It has all positive and negative sides.
