Can't pitch with Parker?

Hey guys!

I have my Oakland A's franchise, and I reached the trade deadline and just called up Jarrod Parker from AAA. In his first start though I found out that everytime I throw any of his 4 pitches, I'd get a warning colour. First it turns yellow, then red for every time I throw it. Now I know this is a new feature where it warns you that batters are picking up on the pitch, but this is broken I think. If I throw 8 straight pitches to start the game with him, two of each kind, all of them become red, and easily hittable by the opponents. I first thought it was a tendency issue... but no matter what I change, It stays the same. If anyone has a solution please let me know . Thanks

P.S. I am running a legit PC version, and the only way I found is if I use the MLB 2k12 editor and swap player IDs.... but if I do that I lose all his 2011 MLB stats, and his 2012 AAA stats.... just wondering if there is an easier way

Almost all the new pitchers added in the most recent updates are bugged. I believe it is a tendency flaw in their pitches, which you can manually edit for each play. All the numbers should add to 100, so if their fastball tendency is only 4, make it 40 and so forth.

Work the count. I had that problem when I caled up a guy in my Cubs franchise. I would you only the power curve to throw it outside the zone and to use as a chase pitch. It seems to be ok if you use a pitch that is just to change selection.

That may be true, but he is on the real A's roster right now.

This is a 2k problem and can only be addressed by creating a new Jarrod Parker by yourself. Yu Darvish has the same problem. There are some other pitchers as well.

Bugs like this are why I gave up playing this game months ago. Just literally ruins the experience of playing the game.

Problem is only that some pitchers that have played the game last year (like Parker) who already have stats have this bug. Mainly only "new" players, that can be name-edited have this bug. So for the last ones mentioned it is not a big deal since they can be simply "deleted" and a new one without bug can be made.
For console players I understand that the players like Parker which are already in the game are annoying.
But PC players have workaround for all those players.
I do not expect a PC patch anymore, but I wonder why they didn't address this for the console versions.

I didnt even know this bug existed.

I'm kinda upset about it since I started a new franchise a month ago with the most recent 2K rosters... and now Im realizing this bug is affecting several pitchers.

Ugggg. Waste of a month. Editing wont fix it either.

If I were to use MKharsh rosters from the trade deadline.. this bug wouldnt happen because his rosters were built off the original base file... correct?

So everyone should start a franchise with MK's roster.. correct?

To avoid this bug?

You can not avoid this bug without having "deleted" the old pitchers who had that bug and made new players.


By now I know of Jarrod Parker, Drew Smyly and Yu Darvish, who had/have this bug in the official 2k rosters. Since Mkharsh did his rosters based on the original 2k rosters I think the bug occurs with his rosters, too. But I am not sure, maybe he had a workaround. But this bug was in the original 2k roster, too.

I do not know if there are more pitchers out there that have this bug but I would not be surprised if it would be so.

As far as I noticed only rookies have this bug. And as I said I think there is no other workaround than "deleting" them. Maybe you Xbox-players should ask Mkharsh what he has done.

Last time I played, one of the D'Backs' young starters had the bug too. Think maybe it was Patrick Corbin. For all I know, it could affect different players for different people depending on the roster used or any number of other circumstances.

Really? I think thought everyone is affected by this. There should be no differences, everyone should have those problems with the same players. Otherwise it would make no sense IMO.

Thanks for the information wudl83. This is helpful to understand the bug, and who it happens to.

As for MKharsh's rosters, he has a CAP for Yu Darvish... so the bug wouldnt affect him in MK's roster. But in 2K's roster Darvish is bugged.

In my franchise I tried to pitch with Smyly and the bug happened to him. So I'm sort of bummed I played this franchise for a month without realizing I was using rosters with a few bugged players. (I started this particular franchise with 2K's most recent roster and did not use MK's. A mistake as it turns out.)

I did however notice when I was batting against Smyly in 2 different games that he pitched fine against me. So its almost as if this bug doesnt affect these pitchers when the CPU uses them. I cant confirm that I guess.. but Smyly pitched fine against me and once I switched sides and controlled him all his pitches turned red within a couple throws.

Weird.

I suppose the best thing to do is always use MK's rosters. Since he has CAP's instead of bugged players for a few of the bugged guys. And it doesnt affect the CPU when they use a bugged pitcher. So in the off chance you get a guy who is bugged, you'll just have to trade him to a CPU team who can use him and get a non-bugged guy in return.

As far as I can tell mainly those pitchers are affected which were already in the first official 2k roster and had those "fake names" but represented the real players. E.g. Darvish and Smyly were already in the first roster but under another name. Know what I mean? Players like Parker which already have a real name and a W/L-record are the exception. Normally those players do not have this problem.

So if Mkharsh has not used those fake players to make Darvish, Smyly, etc. out of them the chances are pretty high that his Darvish and Smyly don't have the problem. But perhaps other players have this problem, when he used those fake players to create other pitchers. Do you understand what I mean?

And regarding the piece I marked in your quote. I am sorry but I have to disappoint you. The problem affects the CPU, too. I do not know if this occurs in sim games also, but it definately influences the games you play. When you play against a bugged Darvish or Smyly you will crush them out of town in 9 out of 10 cases.
I once played a game against the Rangers and Yu Darvish and led by 8 or 9 to nothing after the first two. I made a hit nearly every at bat and Darvish pitched so damn poor I could not believe it. Then I switched the controller over to the Rangers and guess what you could see? Every pitch of Yu Darvish was red and this was why I was able to crush him...
