Re: How can MLB 2k13 be better than 2k12...without a major overhaul
They could pretend that 2k12 didn't exist and update 2k11 with new rosters, alignment and the pitching system.
The more I play 2k11 the more I love the game. I absolutely love it.Last edited by pistolpete; 02-01-2013, 10:20 PM. -
Re: How can MLB 2k13 be better than 2k12...without a major overhaul
I like 11 a lot better myself with the exception of the new wrinkle they added for pitching in 12.
13 needs to have at a bare minimum added back all the camera options they had in 11 and at least go back to the running animations they had in 11. The base runner animations were absolutely terrible in 12.
There is a great baseball game crying to get out but someone who knows WTF they are doing needs to get hold of it.Comment

I loved 2K11, too. But it's broken check swing really bothered me a lot.
I've had plenty of luck finding cameras I like in 2K12, but I really, really liked the way the camera hangs low when you hi the ball. But if they took out the cameras you liked in 2K11, I can see how some of their changes may not be what others like.
On top of the new wrinkle in pitching, I think fatigue is handled so much better in 2K12. Managing your bullpen and line-ups in 2K12 is much more fun. I like getting more guys in the line-up.
I had a ton of reservations with how 2K was going to handle hot and cold streaks in 2K12, but they really aced. It's not overpowered, but you get the same sense of confidence or lack there of that the real life hitters would be feeling. It doesn't force you to sit a star, but it does get bench players in the game when certain players are struggling.
I've had zero interest in going back to 2K11, and I own the on-demand version because I played it so much that having it on the hard drive was worth double dipping and selling my disc version.
I will say that a WBC mode would be all kinds of awesome. I love the national teams in EA's NHL series. But I don't think we are going to see it. 2K is to going to spend more money on licenses.Comment

I agree about 2k12 being more polished than 11. Still though why do they need to remove some of the cameras from 11 and like was mentioned above the running animations why does it go from good to terrible.Comment

It's amazing how much value I find it not having to change out a disc too.Comment

I usually don't nitpick graphics and such but man, the colors in 2K12 were just so bad for some teams, it was hard to deal with.Currently Playing:

Fixes for 2k13: fix the fielding animations so they don't seem so canned. Reaction time in the outfield needs to be drastically improved, as well as reactions to base runners. Ground balls need more life in the infield, in 2k12 ground balls often died in the infield resulting in easy outs that really shouldn't have been so easy. Defensive diving in both the outfield and infield need to be toned down drastically, and please for the love of God: get rid of the auto dive in the outfield. The game looks like it was developed for PS2/XBOX.
Online fixes: make players pick their pitcher BEFORE going to the lineup screen, many gamers use different lineups against LHP and RHP and when one has a set lineup only to have the other player choose a different handed pitcher with no time left on the clock often causes pre-first pitch quits - which shouldn't happen. Starting pitchers should not be available to pitch unless the bullpen is gone. They moved in the right direction last year, but move it along farther please.Comment

If they could improve the shading and make the faces look a little bit better, I'd be okay with the game. The textual of the faces and skin in 2k12 is just unacceptable. Fix that, and you've got a game that's instantly way better.
Oh, and improve the CPU management skills. Things that should be simple fixes.Comment

No, they just need to listen to the wise & dedicated members of this community as to what we are seeing. This is a really fun and good game... The issues could be fixed, but they're not listening to us. When we even tell them of a freezing issue and it takes THREE MONTHS to patch that, you know they don't care about us. It would take EA a FEW YEARS to get this game solid again as they'd be starting from the ground up. EA's other sports suck - Madden is awful, NHL is a joke, and NCAA football has a ton of holes in it. So let's not think they'll just magically create a masterpiece of a baseball game when their other titles are worse today than 10 years ago...STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: How can MLB 2k13 be better than 2k12...without a major overhaul
I think all sports games should have an auto pop up survey type thing that comes up after about 5 full games and then again after 20 full games so that "EVERYONE" that plays the game can give their feedback for these guys to use. If you don't fill out the short survey the game wont allow you to advance to your next game. This to me captures the whole audience and not just OS users which are a very small percentage of users. Just thought of this one. As a head high school baseball coach I have always run a 9-1-2 lineup. Meaning my dog is in the 8 hole. Hopefully they'll let us move the pitcher's position in the order this year and he won't automatically be locked in at the 9 hole.Comment
