Romain, can you post the team ratings please?
also, can you give some info about:
-the menus, do they look any different?
-does my player look the exact same?
-does franchise work the exact same?
-does mlb today season look like it will actually work this time?
-any new online stuff?
thanksLast edited by Zombeels; 03-02-2013, 02:50 PM.Comment

Can't wait to hear your impressions. If they fixed the AI issue where the pitcher bats late in the game with men on base in a tight game, I'll be ecstatic. Just AI in general, would be nice to know if they enhanced the CPU AI.Comment

Re: Some MLB 2K13 Ratings Revealed, Along with a Few Shaky-Cam Videos and Impressions
I went to Best Buy today for the first time to give it a whirl. Sadly to say (for people asking), I didn't go there to post ratings or anything. However, I did bring my video camera, and I'm going to upload three "1st inning" gameplay videos of different teams.
I did my own sliders and settings adjustments, because IMO this game is hideous, ugly, and unplayable with default values. I had to do tweaks mid-game sometimes because they seemed to change. No matter.
I will apologize that I don't put too many balls in play when batting, and I can attribute that to a few things:
1) I was trying out the check swing system, and most times I forgot that the check swing not only doesn't work well in this game, but that it doesn't happen the same way The Show does it, which is what I'm used to. So you'll see a lot of random swings and misses.
2) The TV has pretty bad input lag. You'll see that I sometimes botch my pitches as well for the same reason.
3) In the game when I'm the Angles, my camera battery was dying, so I just tried really hard to put a bunch of balls in play, and it didn't really work.
Anyway, I'll be posting them as soon as they're uploaded. I also tweaked the audio settings, so hopefully my camera captured some of it (the TV was pretty quiet and I couldn't change the volume). I hope you enjoy!
EDIT: As far as quick impressions, I really do like this game with proper adjustments. I think that from previously owning 2K10, I had issues that were tough to look past. Two of them still exist (the way that you check swing and the fact you can't turn off the pitching cursor), and there are still poor sound effects, framerate issues, and ugly crowds/faces, etc... but it's a good brand of baseball, has a few more good customizable tweaks since 2K10, and I don't mind pretending that this is just the "next year" since 2K10 on my end, since that's the last version I purchased. In other words, this is a worthy step up from that game.
In short, if I wasn't already buying the PS3 and Vita versions of The Show and buying Pro Yakyuu Spirits 2013 this year (which is pretty costly to get from Japan, mind you), the NBA/MLB 2K13 combo pack would be an easy purchase for me. I still might get it! I know I'm going to Redbox this game when available and see what I can squeeze out of it for the time being.
The first video has almost finished uploading. Hopefully my videos will reflect some good that you can get out of what you might expect in an inning of play, lol.

Wish they would have fixed up all the replay stuff they show after runs score.
It's been the same way since 2k10. Fielders standing on top of bases & runners basically running thru them, especially @ home plate

Re: Some MLB 2K13 Ratings Revealed, Along with a Few Shaky-Cam Videos and Impressions
I really appreciate the videos that you guys have posted. I was just going to rent this at first, but I've managed to hype myself up the past couple of days now that it's closer to release. I took advantage of the Gamestop trade-in deal and got $140. I paid off MLB 2K13 and a couple of other games as well. The game looks decent from what I've seen so far, I'm looking forward to it.Comment

Re: Some MLB 2K13 Ratings Revealed, Along with a Few Shaky-Cam Videos and Impressions
Is it just me or have the ball physics improved a little bit? I noticed the ball seems to bounce a bit more of the ground instead of just rolling. Maybe I'm just seeing things.Comment

I feel you're seeing things, or they made a few exceptions... because the ball still definitely rolls, at least once it reaches the outfield grass.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Some MLB 2K13 Ratings Revealed, Along with a Few Shaky-Cam Videos and Impressions
I appreciate the videos. Mostly it looks like MLB 2K12, which is good for me.
But I will also say this is a good example of why 2K ought to be promoting their freaking game. Flying through at-bats, ignoring inside edge information, turing off the strike zone so you lose batter's eye all make the game seem way more shallow than it is. You are not familiar with 2K12, so it seemed like you didn't understand the overuse signal.
I know you have limited time, and I don't blame you for opting for aesthetics over data, but it kind of highlights why so many people don't get what 2K did that made 2K12 such a good game. Obviously aesthetics is not one of those.Comment

Re: Some MLB 2K13 Ratings Revealed, Along with a Few Shaky-Cam Videos and Impressions
Thanks for posting these videos. Looks pretty much the same, which to me isn't a terrible thing. I really enjoy 2k12. I didn't see anything new or stand out over 2k12.
I think I'll be sticking 2k12 with 25 anticipation for a while, may just change my camera angles to give it a new game feel. I'll keep in touch on this thread to see what your other impressions are.
I'm sure I'll get 2k13, just not yet. THanks againLast edited by shogunofharlem3; 03-02-2013, 08:18 PM.Comment

It could be worse... Prog Field looks good, that's my best compliment. Yet I'll still end up with it this week.
