Here's why...
While I really am impressed by the realism in The Show, if I play a 9 inning game, and absorb all the game has to offer (I love replays etc. so I dont really button mash through the presentation stuff) it takes almost as long to play a game as it does to actually watch a real MLB game.
This is where The Show suffers from what I call SIM-ITIS.
Its realism in someways destroys its fun. Not that I dont want the realism,
but theyve gotta find a way to re-think and capture what 2k does better.
Unfortunately its one of only a few things 2k does better.
The real hook that gets me with 2k is the pitcher/batter interface.
Using the sticks to execute pitches in different movements makes for a
completely different dynamic compared to The Show. For a couple seasons
I went to it from The Show based on that alone. Thats how much better it makes the game feel for me anyway.
Anyway, Im glad to see 2k pushed another game out for this year.
I think this time next year will be completely different.
I would expect The Show to do some very different things making the jump to the new hardware. As for what will surface on the XBOX next gen for baseball...Who knows right?
Now for some questions...
Do you see guys warming up when you have guys in the Pen?
Does either game have old school teams and stadiums?
How about Managers mound visits, any effect on the pitcher?
I havent played either game since last April for lack of time so I cant remember any details.
Thanks in advance
