what would you rather pay for?

    1. a new game for 39.99-49.99 every yr

    2. a perfect real life game that included every thing for one time at $50-75 and just have to just pay like 20 a yr for roster updates and stat updates...

i would rather do the later myself... and i think we all know that the companyS CAN make the perfect game but dont want to. If they ever did i would love it. i would gladly pay 20-25 dollars for a roster patch each yr or whatever to get the right players on the right teams and update their stats...

In theory, I agree with what you are saying.

However, I think that as time progresses, developers are capable of doing more and more. Each year, new technology/techniques allow for different graphics. As time goes on, people come up with innovative ideas, etc...

Re: what would you rather pay for?

For me it's the first. Part of the fun of "gaming" is the uncertainty of the product, the anticipation etc...
We all complain after games come out(more with some people than others). If games were released and all was perfect I honestly think some of the fun would leave. We always crave more no matter what we get, thats part of the evolution of gaming. Gaming has become better in some areas and worse in others. I sometimes wonder how many good Intellivision,NES etc games I would have missed and or disregarded if the media blitz we have now was prevelant back then.
Either way I'll shell out 49.99 and go from there.

I think it's hillarious that you say "we all know they CAN make the perfect game"....

                      1. There's no such thing as Perfection

                      2. It doesn't matter how great it is, it would be missing things.

                      3. It would cost more than $75 to make it near-perfect. (More like $100-150 to get the game)

                      4. I suppose you'd be able to download entire stadiums, right? Alot of teams are getting new Stadiums soon. What if they added seats in Yankee Stadium 10 years from now? Is that Downloadable?

                      5. Technology is always changing. Even Near-Perfection wouldn't last long, at most 3 years IMO.

Now, assuming something like this was even possible (which it's not), assuming the company making this game had 50,000 people working soley on the game for 2 straight years, assuming they had an unlimited ammount of cash to use in making the game absolute near perfect, assuming any of this would ever be possible in ANY dimension known to man or OTHERWISE....Yes, I'd pay $100-150 for the game.

Yeah I agree with Stoud. Also what defines the "perfect game" for one, certainly doesn't mean it's perfect for someone else. Writing code to develop a game is not easy by any means. This takes a lot of time and hard work. If they were to develop the "perfect game", I would think that they would have to include every single little detail/option imaginable. Not to mention the gameplay would have to be 100% flawless (and we all know that no software is 100% flawless).
