OMG you have got to be kidding me. I came on here to try to explain a couple things, and you're taking it all personal? I don't think saying "you guys" is a blanket statement. I'm obviously talking to the people who don't realize what it takes to put a game like this together.

You applauded how this thread had been kept sensible and productive, and you just took it the other way yourself.

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

    Incorrect, "GameDude".
I simply responded to your statement (and since I'm a "guy" in this thread, I sensibly assumed that "you guys" referred to me, as well). The anonymity that message boards provide means that very few people who post here will ever have any idea of another's skills or experience.
I took a brief moment to inform you of mine. I firmly believe that it lends credence to my perspective, and I wanted to differentiate that from the "fanboy" type of perspective that unfortunately tends to permeate the Internet.
I didn't want your blanket statement to cast any incorrect impressions upon me, and so I corrected you. It's just that simple, and I have no hard feelings.

It's possible to criticize a game while respecting it. It's also possible to respect it, and not really like it.
Time will tell what WSB looks like this year - I hope it's the best game this year - I hope that for all the baseball games. Competition is good - it makes developers push themselves into making the best product possible.
We'll see what competition has made WSB in another month...

I know you have been defending them this whole time, so I was a little surprised to see a statement like that from you, that's all. So if I misinterpreted what you said, I apologize. I understand that a lot of people here feel that way, so that was what I was trying to explain about, for people who might not know how the process works.

Truthfully, if I did care about online play, I would think roster updates would be a big deal also, especially if other games had it. I'm just trying to say that they're not necessarily being lazy by not including it. Really, who knows what they've been going through to get the game finished. Maybe the networkability of the game itself has taken most of their time to get done. Roster updates may seem like a small thing to put in on top of that ability, but if it causes the game to not be done on time, I can see why it would get axed.

Dguru, I understand what you are saying, but in this case it is not one company. Blueshift is working on this game for VC. I'm sure a phone call and a transfer of some code would help, but it's not like they can pull a guy off something he's working on at VC to work on something at Blueshift. They are 2 separate companies.

I have to disagree with you.
Your previous one liner was not a response to what I said. If you had continued to say something intelligent about what I said, then I would consider it a response. Instead, all you accomplished from that was to put me on the defense. If you had just meant to correct me, you could have done it without telling me to be cautious. Your current response, however, to which I'm responding to now, is more of a response I would look for.

By calling me incorrect, you are guilty of the same thing that you were accusing me of previously. You are making a judgment that what I said was wrong, but the truth lies in how I interpreted it, just like you misinterpreted what I was saying before. Can't you see how I might have taken it a different way than you intended?

On that note, I'd like to apologize to anyone I offended, it wasn't my intention. No hard feelings here, either.

The point I was trying to get across is that a lot of things can happen in the course of development, and none of us will ever know what happened during the development of this game. Maybe by tring to add the roster updates, they might not have been able to finish the more crucial part of the network on time. Maybe the game would have been delayed at that point. Maybe they ran out of money... we'll never know. What I do know, is that they are trying to put out the best game possible, within the time allotted to them, with the amount of money they were budgeted for. That's all I was trying to say. I'm not making any judgement on them because of it, and I'm not making any judgement on any of the other games, either, especially until I see them.

I would really like to see more about this game. They certainly don't show me enough to whet my appetite. I really enjoyed it last year, and want to see more about how they improved it, more than just words. I would like to see this game marketed better, too, so they don't go down like High Heat went down. (Maybe that's a bad example since the whole company went down.)

I do agree that competition makes the games better and better. Baseball games in general, were in a lull until WSB2k3 came along and raised the bar for everyone, and now we have some great competition. This board can attest to that. Props to VC and Blueshift for raising the bar a couple years ago, and here's to hoping they will put out a quality product again.

Sorry if I got off topic a bit, but it's something I feel strongly about.
