Well, let me say it this way. I just educated myself after reading to look in the news forum and now have the facts. I would not consider it risky or improper to simply say to your members "we're witholding further comment while we contact VC management to determine if FP's position is the position of the company".

What if VC did question your impartiality? Does that mean you henceforth would IGNORE their products because you're upset with them? Based on the thin skinned behavior I've observed here from many mods recently, I wouldn't have been surprised if that's what would have happened. Is that the best way to serve the site members?

No, however, the driving attitude around here doesn't seem to be that the mods are here to serve the members, but rather the members are all just disposable guests playing in this sandbox with the permission of big brother. There is a general attitude of arrogance, a "we know best, you non-mods don't know sh%t" approach to dealing with people. There is far too little self control displayed in management of these forums, and way too much disrespect heaped on the users by the forum managers.

The end result, is that the adults like me, who have the potential to contribute in many ways, won't stick around. That should be a concern to you since you obviously want the site to be successful, however I don't get the impression that it is.

BTW, even though you received a reply from VC, the impressions thread remains locked. At this point it appears those of us looking for candid input on ESPN Baseball are being told to look elsewhere.
