Exactly. This is what they had to say about Madden 2004.

If you are looking for a HUGE difference between Madden 2003 and Madden 2004, you will be disappointed. The game plays like Madden 2003 with a few gameplay tweaks. But you know what? It doesn’t matter. Madden was the best game last year and they had less things to fix then the other games. So EA played it safe and put out a game that they knew people familiar with the series would enjoy. With that said, there are a few things that EA still has to improve particularly the commentary, the presentation, and continue to improve the CPU's AI.

So here is the problem I faced when deciding what score to give the game. Madden 2004 is a definite improvement over last year’s game so I cant justify giving it a lower score (Last year OS gave Madden a 94). However, even with the new features, the game just doesn’t feel new to me so I cant justify giving it a higher score. So, I’ll give Madden a score of 94.

Now i will conclude my review without going over such tiny details as GAMEPLAY or ONLINE or FRANCHISE and remind you that madden lovers are in for some bad news. I will give it a random score of 76.

I guess that's a good motto for many games, but Madden's is broken in my opinion, that's the problem. They aren't changing the super momentum (running on ice), which is enough of a problem right there. I would also hope that they go through a huge graphical change.

Whatever though, it's just weird that while ESPN makes some big changes (even big gameplay changes, just not animation-wise which everyone sees the most as "gameplay" either on these forums or when a reviewer talks about it), like how they are changing speed and flow of the game, with new hitting and pitching, and that there is pretty big, it takes a while to do. They also added the new modes (I will be using FPM by the way... for those who say no one will use it), and I think they did us a favor this year by making a game with less flaws, besides in the animation department.

It really doesn't matter though. I'm not going to listen to reviewers either. They're sometimes not aware of what they are talking about.

ok, so just going by what you said, you would pay $50 for a roster udpate, playmaker, and the ability to price hot dogs in Madden(and probably other minor stuff, but i don't know because i haven't played the game i am only going by user reviews), but you don't want to pay $40 for bugs fixed, new batting and pitching interface, fixed graphics, fixed franchise, gm mode, and a lots of other stuff

without playing espn mlb yet i would have to say the changes in madden at least mirror the number of changes in the game. with that said, i agree with you, it doesn't make sense to make a claim for one and not the other.

side note: i may have been harsh in the past and the overall message was probably lost, but you really should stop basing your STRONG arguments about games on what you've heard from user reviews. if you don't have any personal experience with the game you really shouldn't comment on them or use them as examples.
