    XBox Live question

Right now I am only wired for PS2, is XBox Live still just a one time fee ($50 I think), or do you have to pay some sort of subscription fee every year?

I'm trying to decide which platform to buy it for.

You have to re-up every year. But the $50 is a small price to pay for the fun you'll have.

I've had XBL since the day of its launch, and, as far as I'm concerned, it is, without question, the best things to happen to videogames since their inception.

Most games are lag free, and very well interfaced.

Xbox Live is $50 per year and even though it's not a one time fee, it's a lot better than Sony's network. With Xbox Live you have a gamertag that you keep no matter what game you play. Not to mention that you can send invites to people playing other games to join you in the game you're playing. I've got a Sony network adapter and I think I've used it twice...it just doesn't compare to Xbox Live, even if it is free.
No, I didn't draft Grossman on my fantasy team, what do you think I am an idiot?

The $50 fee for XBL is soooooo worth it. The main thing is that it is broadband only - that's right - no phone line players slowing/lagging the games down. That was a major + in my book.

The bad things are that the EA games aren't XBL compatible - my thinking on this is that if they don't make the XBL/EA announcement at E3 this year I'll cave in and buy a PS2 (again) so I can play the EA games online - I really don't want to have to play on a PS2 again after getting used to the XBox and XBL.

As for this game - I'm going to rent it to see how it plays out on XBL so I'll know whether or not to buy it. I'm playing the turd out of MVP and I really wish it was online for XBL too.....

It is $50 but there are two month free trials also. You could sign up and try it out. You do need a credit card or a debit card with a Visa/MC logo. I'll be more than happy to give you a two month trial subscription code as I have quite a few of those cards just sitting here. The only drawback is that you wouldn't have a mic.

Also a lot of people who plan on signing up for Live use the two month trial and then buy the kit. If there are any Target stores in you area you can check them out, sometimes the Live kits with the communicator and 12 month subscription are on clearance for $30.
