    Re: Pitching tips...........

I turned the meter off as well, I find it much better that way, and pitchers still tire realistically, and pitch counts remain realistic! As far as tips, throw balls, paint corners, change speeds, and most importantly, pitch into double plays by jamming batters down and in, and using breaking balls to induce ground balls!

      Re: Pitching tips...........

As far as the meter goes, to me it seems the more effort you put into a pitch the less control you have on it. (i.e. the balls breaks/moves more). Therefore, if you use full effort and try to paint the corner, there is a good chance you will throw a mistake pitch down the middle. That mistake = HR a lot! You will also tire fast when using alot of effort on every pitch. I still use the meter but only use full effort when I want to throw some heat outside of the strike zone and get the batter to chase.

That's exactly what I do and it's worked so far. The only other time I use a lot of effort is when I throw a cutter. I'll use about 65% of the effort meter to get a sharper break to the outside of the zone.

Other than that, I'd guess that I use 1/4 of the effort meter on all other pitches.

I play with the meter off as well but I think that it is still pressure sensitive. Like the meter is still working but it isn't visible. If I throw a fastball and hold down the button I might get it to the mid to high 90'2, depending on the pitcher of course. But with that same pitcher and just tapping the pitch button, a fastball will come in around the mid to high 80's. So to me it seems that by even tuning the pitching meter off, it is still there...just not visible.

                  Has anyone else noticed this?

I noticed that, too, but I think the pitches have more zip just being tapped without the meter than they do being tapped with the meter.

It is likely that my dumb azz couldn't figure out the best way to use the meter I just noticed that, once I stopped using it, my Cubs staff started pitching more like the real-life staff (I wasn't getting very many Ks with the meter). As always, your mileage may vary.
