After purchasing and playing ESPN baseball 2k4 and renting MVP 2004 and ASB 2005 I have come to the conclusion that WSB 2k3 is still the best one. I was really looking forward to this years version of ESPN but the glitches and shoddy graphics(player faces) are the killer. I mean what the hell happpened to Sammy Sosa's face. It looks like he went to see the same plastic surgeon that Michael Jackson used. The home run cut seens are no where near as smooth as last years. In WSB 2k3 when you launch a home run the cut scene of the ball flying through the air is top-notch. In this years version the camera stays low to the ground and than pans up to the flight of the ball. The swing animations are worse than last year and when the cpu is pitching, he gets set way to fast before going into his wind up. It's almost as if you get the feeling that this game was sabotaged. I'm not sure what role Blue Shift has in the development department but didn't Sega announce earlier this year that Blue Shift will no longer be working with them on ESPN baseball. Definately a step back from last years effort. I'm not sure how or why this happens, maybe the development team got a little lackadasical or maybe there efforts have been concentrated more on the development of ESPN Football 2005 (which could be a good thing). MVP made a good game but it's just not my cup of tea. Maybe I should give another try.

I'm sorry, but all of your complaints aboout espn this year are graphic related and none about gameplay.The game has not really changed graphically from last year.The faces were bad and the swing animations were bad last year too. -

It has changed graphically this year and the swing animations from last year were a little smoother. Overall, I think the graphics in last years game were much smoother. To me the gameplay between this years and last years version has not changed much. They added a confidence meter which it seems that most people turn off anyway because it really has no effect on performance and they also added a pitch speed control meter. Throwing motions in this years version are little different depending on the circumstance of the play. But all in all not much has changed there either. The one new animation I have seen regarding the infielders is when a sharp ground ball is hit and they slide on their knees to make the play. I also mentioned the fact that the cpu pitcher gets set way to quick when choosing a type of pitch to throw. Watch for it, they look like they're ducking bullets on the mound.
All in all I think we have seen the reason why Sega retailed this game for $39.99 and not $49.99. It is a shoddy effort and a step back from last years game. Some may agree and some may not but this is my opinion.Comment

gameplay is great offline!! My only beef is with online play. If they would just fix the lag and friend's list......MS needs to buy VC to set them straight! They have the resources...Sega does not.Comment
