Re: can turbo be turned off?

If they called it the "hustle button" or the "I just did some amphetamines with David Wells in the clubhouse button" no one would be screaming about it. Must we be so politically correct these days??? *sigh*

Tagging on with Nemisis, instead of dropping back to 80, drop it back to 75, or really make the fatigue level take a hit! Cause we know that players will run, then see the play develop, and suddenly "turn on the jets" and run harder. So I think "Turbo" is a good addition, it just needs to simulate the human part and make it take a little to recover.

i agree, it should take longer to get a speed boost back, but if you realize most players aren't going that fast without turbo (i'm talking about basketball and football games)
Just wait till Arsenal moves into Emirates Stadium.

True, so like Nemisis says, speed rating at 90 would get him a 80 speed down the line, with a 90 being the speed burst button.. Maybe there should be a baserunning speed and a fielding speed. Some guys when they field run harder than when they're on the bases.

I'd also like to see an acceleration rating, cause some guys get out of the box very quick, and some don't.

Sean Casey is an example, he puts bat on ball, and he's out of the box right now... that's about the only fast thing he does!

Probably would need some type of meter next to the runner, similiar to the one they showed, that would show you the speed boost being depleted and it also would show you it filling back up but at a slower pace. What would be good though is that if you used it to get down the line to first, the turbo would fill up but not to max so that fatigue could be factored in! Keep in mind that each players boost meter would be a certain length based on their run attributes. Not a huge fan of all these meters, but it would be a tangible way of interpeting it on the basepaths.

In the trailor, they did mention it would be a "slight" boost to the runner, so it sounds all right. It is always tough to balance the sim part of the game with the video game part.

We could say the same about hitting or pitching. If it outcomes were totally dependent upon their real life counter parts, there wouldn't be much point in us playing the game.

I disagree about the turbo being a wasted option in a sports game

making your guy run faster by actually making him do it by hitting the button faster is more fun to play and cool if done realistically and not arcadish.

I actually miss hitting a button to run faster to get a ball in the gap and then hit another button to dive and try to make and edmonds catch.. old school baseball video games like baseball stars I believe had this and it was awesome! ALso.. it all started by hitting a button to run faster in baseball video games way back.. I like that they brought that back.. it's fun. I have always hit the button to run faster in baseball video games the last couple of years even know the game doesn't allow them to actually go faster.. I just like doing it thinking I'm making my guy have a better chance to beat out a throw. AM I really the only one who does this?

ps. bottom line. it makes for great gameplay
