There is an in game sound effects slider that is set at 100 at default...just turn it down.

BTW, the only mode I have really noticed the crack of the bat being really loud is in the HR Derby mode. It may be the same volume in a regular game, but if it is I didn't notice it.

A cannon is an exaggeration. It sounds exactly like an gigantic sawed-off shot gun. I'd still be ducking under my seat if I heard that at a baseball game. The loud bat sound is a myth in the same way that "water is wet" is a myth.

The normal setting for bat sounds is absolutely normal

Under the cheats there are diff options for bat sounds, which are the ones you heard in the various movies, lighting, cannon, etc, cant remember htem all, but thats it, u are just being paranoid.
