    Pitchers to powerfull

I could be wrong but I dont think there are many pitchers in the Majors that hit 95-100 constantly, but it seems almost every one with a half decent fast ball gets it up there. I think this takes away from guys like Gagne, and Schimdt when they can do. Has anyone else noticed this, or am I just out of touch with the ability of the pitchers now. I was thinking about lowering the fastball speed for every one, but I need some input to make sure this is a problem.

    Thanks

I'm seeing this as well. Player ratings are not implemented properly in the game, and using sliders to try and make the pitchers perform more realistically just causes other aspects of the game to falter. What Kush needs to do is make the game work properly instead of just giving us more sliders.

Agreed, there are way too many pitchers than can hit triple digits in this game than can in real life. I remember seeing a stat that said that in the 2003 season, the 100MPH mark was surpassed like 400 times, and I think 300 of those times were from Billy Wagner.

Not a whole lot of big leaguers can actually hit that, I think they need to tone it down some and make guys whose speed has dropped the last few seasons (i.e. Kerry Wood / Pedro sadly) and make them throw their realistic 96 MPH or 92MPH instead of 101MPH.

I'm just dropping all pitch speeds by 10 points or so and it's solving the problem. An 89 Speed FB will hit the low 90's. A 79 Speed curve translates into the low to mid 80's.

Did it negatively affect other aspects of pitching (loss of control?) or how well the opponent made contact? One thing is clear about sliders, they keep adding more and more of them, but they don't ever make sure that the sliders already there work on exactly what they should work, and nothing more.

I don't know yet. I've only had the game for 24 hours. But I'd say the sliders I've experimented with work as they're supposed to. By lowering my Contact just 10-15 points, I'm now having trouble hitting the ball (thankfully ;-)... that sort of thing. This game is going to need a lot of fine tuning of player ratings to get the CPU players in particular playing realistically IMO. It's a fun game though.

So let me get this right you adjusted every pitch speed for each pitch? Ie.... Gagne has a speed of 98 for fastball and 88 for curveball, so you made them a 88 fastball and 78 curveball. Also you think the guys that actually throw @95-99 we should leave those alone and change everyone else. I was playing against the Giants and Brett freakin Tomko was throwing 97. Once I get this straight this game should be alot better.

Set your AI Change Speed to 90, that sould vary some of the pitch speeds.
