I should have mentioned I edited all my P's fielding ratings to below 10. I'm not sure it's affecting the 3B thing... but an awful lot of hits up the middle get by the P now :-)

I just read on another thread that GALLANDRO moved the AI Fielding Aggressiveness to 50. He mentions that he saw a couple of cool things like CPU outfielders actually pulling up on shallow fly balls into the outfield, etc.

It's in the BIGFNJOE & GALLANDRO'S MLB 2K5 Pure Realism Sliders thread. I'm going to give it a try tonight.

Yeah, it does help a lot with the outfielder logic, and it fixes the problem of pitchers being undable to pick up slow rollers, but twice I have seen the pitcher run almost all the way over to third base on a slow roller in the infield, and he ends up fielding the ball... the 3B just stands there... doesn't rush to charge the roller, doesn't even cover the bag, he just stands there.

But at least now someone actually fields the ball... it's a wonky fix, but it works...

BTW, I do love the fact the outfielders now pull up on bloopers to the outfield.

Re: 3Bman does not charge slow rollers . . .

I just did an experiment. I took all the Mets and Phillies pitchers and edited their fielding. Here's what happened in an exhibition game.

I edited Pedro Martinez RANGE down to 9, ANTICIPATION down to 1, lowered both arm strength/accuracy, dropped JUMP/DIVE to 1, lowered glove.

I did nothing but bunt down the third base line. Let me tell you, for the most part he just stood there AND THE THIRD BASEMAN CAME BARRELLING IN ON THE BUNTS. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I was thrilled. NEVER saw a third basemen charge a bunted ball before.

The edit seems to work. Can we come up with a happy mediums for this? How low should we go? Somebody else experiment with this. I'll include it in another roster update.

guess that solves that problem, just have to make maddux, glavine and Mussina good fielders and there you go.

                      Cat,

You mean bad fielders? Right? Give it an experiment for me. Just keep bunting down the line and see what happens.

No I meant Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and mike Mussina are gold glove pitchers not to mention Mike Hampton. I wouldn't lower their ratings too much while lowering all the other pitchers.

Man I hope we don't have to do too much editing. I did this for NBA 2k5 boy is it alot more players in the mlb than in the nba.

Well, in real life they're gold glovers, but in this game they are so good that the 3rd baseman basically says "you handle it". That's gotta be fixed.

I just experimented some more. I can't lower the ARM STRENGTH and ACCURACY too much as it is making some players safe on balls that the pitcher does get and throws to first, BUT I'm seeing the 3rd baseman take charge now and that's good.

Can someone else give me their views (try it out). It looks like RANGE and ANTICIPATION have to come down to about 10 and 10?

                              Anybody?

The arm strength and accuracy perhaps go to 50/50. Some of these guys arm strengths are 90 and more.
