Just hit the R trigger one time and the "3" in the runner window will turn to "2" and your runner will stop. Basically whatever the WHITE number in the baserunner window says is where the runner will stop. No matter what base your going to.
Odd. I say this because, well, on my game, if I'm running from first to second, and I already have my guy going home on a play, if I press R, it won't turn into a 3... he'll start running back. It only works for me when I'm running to first base.

Then you must have some other problem. No matter what base Im running to I can cycle from H-3-2 no problem at all. You can select any base you want. I have cycled from H back to 2 on numerous occasions when I had runners going to 2nd. I can make them stop immeadiately on 2nd as long as I cycle the R trigger back to 2 before they get to the bag. If you dont they will round it , but you can still make them turn back quick. Maybe your R trigger is messed up ?

I understand what you're saying, but I guess my game is messed up so that it doesn't allow me to do so. I'm trying it as I speak... if I am running to second base and have already assigned my runner to go all the way home, if I press R, it retreats the runner back to first base; it doesn't assign him to third base like it does for you.

Are you holding the trigger down or just tapping it? If you're tapping it maybe something is wrong with your controller. Try using the digital pad to que the runner (left=advance right=retreat) and see if that works for you.

I switched controllers and tried it... still not helping me at all.

I wonder why it's doing this?

                                Yes.

Isn't working. It's okay, though... I never had any problems with this after I figured that I'd just slide into bags, but I'm just letting everybody else know why it's like how it is.
