Today is probably the last time I will play this game. It's not a challenge, it's not realistic, it's not fun. Keep all your pitches down and you will win every time. Avoid mistakes - which is very easy with z-zone, and you will shut out the CPU. Try it, just keep all your pitches down. I've been frustrated with the ease of pitching in this game since I got it. I've tried classic and K-zone. Today, I set it on legend, with AI skill and contact at 100 and power at 90, and I threw a complete game shutout with k-zone and won 1-0. Can't think of anything else to improve my experience except maybe changing the speed of the k-zone to the max to force me to make more mistakes. But regardless, I already know that trying to keep all the pitches down will give me auto-success.

I use classic pitching with AI Skill @ 30, AI Contact @ 90 and AI Power @ 50 (although I’m thinking of lowering that to 45). If I keep my pitches up, the CPU wins by 4-6 runs. If I keep my pitches down, The CPU wins by 2-4 runs. Other than the fact that I apparently can’t play this game, this game is FAR from unplayable ;-)Comment

Doesn't matter. Keeping the ball down in all the other pitching modes has the same effect. The game sucks, in terms of realism and playability, plain and simple.Comment

hmmm...and to think, I gave up 3 homeruns with Maddux pitching the bottom of the zone. Not to mention with Wood and Zambrano.

Yep...I get home runs hit off me no matter where I pitch....you must be doing something wrong. Game is far from unplayable. I personally have played at least 100 games and I enjoy myself every time (except for the few times I play idiots on XBox Live).Comment

It's just not working for me. I was a huge fan of WS2K3, thought it was the best baseball game ever released on the PS2. But the AI in this game is not as smart as it was then. I pitch the same way I did back then with classic and the outcome is much more unpredictable. I just got Winning Eleven 8 and I'm in year 3 of my CH2K5 Rice dynasty, I don't have time to experiment with that many sliders. And as far as I can tell, nobody has seen a CPI AI smart enough to guess low all the time if that is all that is thrown to you! When I hear that guys are just too good pitching I can only assume that they are taking their absolute time and trying to pinpoint EVERY pitch. Try what I do (after using your sliders) just flick your left stick in the area you want to pitch and let 'er go. Don't spend time trying to pinpoint pitches.
I had a great game last night, 6-4. I bet if you put the game on LEGEND the CPU will clobber you. You must just be trying to be too fine with everything you throw up there. And you're not taking advantage of sliders.Comment

Because I've been playing with classic for a couple of years, I'm pretty good at knowing my spots (I don't use a cursor or vibration). The problem is that this year's version, unlike years past, doesn't really take a pitchers individual control into consideration nor does it provide a shrinking control zone for the pitchers (as their confidence and stamina vary).
It's too easy to have good control. It used to be that if you started off poorly, the zone would shrink and you would walk people or get hit hard, now it's impossible to walk people unintentionally. With k-zone, some of that is considered, but it is still too easy to pick your spots.
Keep in mind that I did use the Marlins as my dynasty, and their starters are dominant in real life, so I guess all the complete game shutouts aren't as unrealistic when using that staff. But my main complaint is that classic pitching ain't what it used to be (too easy, no walks, not as deep as before), and any pitching mode in this game is weak due to the poor AI when it comes to guessing pitch location.Comment

I dunno I wouldn't say the game is unplayable. In fact i'm enjoying it very much. Right now in my career i'm on the verge of getting a playoff spot however my pitching and hitting have gone down the tubes. The game is challenging at least to me.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

If you read the original post, I said I moved AI contact to 100, AI power at 90, and AI skill at 100 when I won 1-0 using K-zone. I've tried most of the sliders, but there isn't a slider that makes the CPU better at guessing a pitches location unfortunately (as the AI skill one doesn't help if you pitch low). Everything at 100 in legend = no difference if you pitch low. Throw 100% of your pitches down and away and tell me what result you get. Try it.Originally posted by aholbert32Comment

I dont have to try it. I use some of the sliders provided in the forum and i give up homers no matter where i throw it. Arod hit a 2 run blast off of me yesterday on a fast ball down and away and Ordonez hit one off me when i threw him a change up down and away.
