    Re: Absolutely Unplayable

AI contact to 100, AI power at 90, and AI skill at 100

Then you're just one of those people that is just too good for this game.

I played a game last night with the Nationals v. the Braves. I was down 13-1, AFTER TWO INNINGS. The AI nailed everything I threw up to the plate. After I got my pitcher (Ohka) out of there things settled down a bit with a final score of 15-7.

i mix my pitches up and the computer will get at least 1 homer a game. And that homer comes when the ball is in the bottom part of the strike zone. So always pitching there has no effect. I have given up many runs to the computer, but am able to get runs of my own. Maybe you just need to get off k-zone and give this game another shot.

There's things about this game that I really like. When I first started this post I was frustrated. Moving the sliders up and using K-zone did nothing to make the game more higher scoring. Maybe AJ Burnett just had a great game that day... I'd like to give it one more shot (I won 1-0, so my hitting still needs work).

I want to use classic with pitcher variability set very low and AI power set high. I'm not sure about AI contact at 100 - seems like I had very few K's that game despite it being a CG shutout. Not sure about AI skill either - this slider makes little difference as far as I can tell. If someone would like to post a set of sliders that seems to work for them, post them and I'll give them a try. I'm not ready to give up on the season yet, MVP and MLB don't appeal to me, and everything else with this game is fine.

Lower the AI Skill slider @ 0 and you’ll see exactly what it does when it's up. It creates artificial hits: mostly groundball and line drive gappers, and always EXACTLY where your fielders aren’t. It's a CPU auto-hit cheat slider (something I'd expect in an EA game, but I digress ;-) When it’s @ 0, you see a much, much greater variety of hits, including many more balls your fielders have a chance on. (BTW: If you actually test this, I suggest you also lower all batters' 2B, 3B and HR ratings into the 30 range. What you'll see is what this game would look like hitting-wise if the default batting ratings weren't juiced (something I'd expect in an EA gam... never mind :-)

The problem of course is the CPU can’t hit worth beans with AI Skill @ 0. It can if I lower pitcher player ratings way down – which makes pitching more of a challenge as well, actually. I agree there are hitting and some pitching issues with the game. It plays an very okay game of baseball with a few edits and slider tweaks, but from what I’ve seen, with a complete player rating edit overhaul it would actually play much, much better.

Nevertheless, the problem I don’t get is this one that some are having with the game: no CPU hitting with AI Skill etc, maxed out. That makes no sense to me. My AI Skill slider’s @ 30 and the CPU wins every game I play.

Noone has mentioned to this guy to adjust his pitch variability slider ??? move it to anything 70 or above and you wont be able to keep the ball low.

Also note they have the slider explained backwards in the slider screen. You move the slider to the RIGHT to make the pitchers more wild NOT to the left.

Do this with your current AI hitting sliders your using and youll be getting throttled nomatter what location you pitch to.

I'll try that. I wasn't sure about the pitcher variability, you sure it's to the right? What do you mean by current AI sliders? I'll just set it at Legend with pitcher variability at 80 to see if I get rocked.

Now, do you know if a pitchers control zone (the area where the control does not vibrate) change depeding on a pitcher's fatigue? Otherwise, it makes it hard to walk people regardless of a pitcher's stamina.

I meant if you bump up the pitcher variability using the AI hitting sliders you said you were using you will give up a ton of hits and HR's. And yes they made a typo in the slider menu for this particular slider. Move it to the RIGHT to make the pitcher more wild.

Also set your pitcher fatigue to no less than 50. This way your pitcher will get tired earlier hence making him more wild also.
