Wow, just played Sunday's M's/A's game. Gallardo v. Triggs. Both pitchers had good stuff throughout. I ended with a complete game shutout with 17 K's with Gallardo. Gallardo is overrated quite a bit on this roster by the way! I didn't mind today though! I mixed up pitches really well, never had a single pitch move into the red, his change up went yellow several times and I avoided it, but was able to utilize it when needed.

I used the actual lineups, so no Davis for Oakland and they had a weak lineup. My sliders will obviously change from here, Gallardo or anyone that often shouldn't be striking out 17 batters.

Good to know you can work around the pitches turning red!

I think I'm going to start playing my version of MLB today with the M's and their lineup for the previous day. Would love anyone else to join with any other teams. We can share results as we go.

I started a new thread so as not to clutter this one about discussions about things not pertaining to the roster itself. I absolutely love what this roster has done for the enjoyment of this game!

I'd like you guys to check this site out and review your fav teams and others n give me your opinion. I want to know if you guys want these ratings or to just keep it how it is?

So how are we going to implement the show ratings from this site into 2k13? I went ahead and did a few players for the M's, one being Iwakuma because he is still overrated in 2k13. What numbers are we using for the contact vs L and vs R? Would it be the H/9 value on the site?

Also, when adjusting a pitchers Base on Balls allowed number, which is better higher or lower? I'm assuming a higher number is better as to the ability to not give up walks, keeping a 1 is low 100 is high system?

I have a few other questions, I'll post them when I remember.

I calculated Contact using the following formula:

=(((AVG/LG AVG)*50)-50)+75

The LG AVG means League Average so if it's Contact vs. Lefties then I would first divide that batters AVG against Lefties by the League Average against lefties. For instance, Mike Trout hit .326 against Lefties last year and the League Average was .256 so the equation would look like this:

=(((.326/.256)*50)-50)+75

Which comes out to: 89. That's just how I do it though.

Does anybody know how the pitch speed works? Is the set speed for each pitch the max speed the pitcher can throw? Or is some of that determined by overthrowing or underthrowing each pitch? Say a guy like Edwin Diaz, with fastball at 95, but he can touch 100. How much extra can a pitcher get in game by overthrowing if any at all?

The set speed is the max they can throw. Even though some guys can throw a hundred but stick around 97, I would only give them 98-99 velocity on a fastball, unless most of their fastballs, or their average is like 99+.

Everybody except for Aroldis Chapman that is. He consistently is 100+ on every fastball.

There has got to be something to these red pitches! Pitching with James Paxton and he throws a lot of fastballs, I can't get through 1 maybe 2 innings before the fastball is red. Probably 10 fastballs thrown. His tendency was 60? I think. It happens rapidly with his knuckle curve as well. Tendency is 20 for that and about 5 curveballs before it's red too.

I have pitched with other pitchers and this is not the case. I can maneuver around the yellow pitches and avoid turning them red pretty easily.

I know this has been discussed quite a lot, but there has to be something triggering specific pitchers or something that causes this problem.

Could it be happening on created players only?

Does the tendency system screw up if you give too high of tendency for one pitch?

Can someone point me in the direction of any past discussion on the topic? I'd like to review what has been covered and possibilities that remain other than they just plain messed up. I see that part, but it varies largely between different pitchers.

FYI

FanGraphs has some good saber data on speed and stolen bases. Check on their glossary for definitions and then you can download the data into an Excel file.

They also have data on some of the hardest measurements to obtain, such as arm strength and accuracy...Along with "hands" and first step data.

Having used daddyleagues as well, I feel that fangraphs is a much better source as it's pure data and can be translated into a 25-99 scale.

Yes, when that pitch turns red the cpu starts crushing pitches.

I've tinkered a bit with Paxton for a few games now. This game I'm playing now on his 5th fastball it turned red. After a total of 22 pitches.

I did manage to throw 7 innings of 1 run ball with him the previous game. Only run a solo shot on a 3-0 cut fastball. I mostly just hate that I can't pitch the way he pitches throughout a game. He throws almost 60 percent 4 seam fastballs.

My latest try I moved tendencies to no greater than 28. Added some percent to the cutter and sinker. But it really doesn't solve the problem.

Not a deal breaker, but I'd like to solve the issue if possible.
