I gotta tell you... the sliders as of yesterday, I believe... are fantastic. Just had a thriller of a ball game with the Cardinals against the Orioles. 2-1 after a bases loaded groundout in the top of the ninth by Adam Kennedy. Just a great game. You are a wizard, my fine sir.

Re: Try my new sliders...
I played 5 and a half innings last night before the game froze on me due to a dirty disc (frustrating, but I've gotten used to it happening with FIFA 07 all of the time).
It was an emotional partial game. I was pitching Papelbon against the Padres' Chris Young.
After giving up a walk and two infield singles that should have been double plays but for my fielder not hustling to the ball, I allowed the Padres to load the bases with no outs. I finally completed a double play when the ball was smacked hard to Pedroia at second, but that let a run in. The next batter grounded out.
So I was eager to even the score in the bottom of the first... until Chris Young struck out the side (in less than 15 pitches, too). That was frustrating.
I managed to hold them off in the top of the second, but my batting woes continued with Manny flying out and the next two batters striking out.
I was about ready to ring someone's neck. I was also about ready to give the first bad review of your sliders.
Until I checked and found that they'd reverted back to Legendary sliders. ><
Went back and fixed them and things improved immediately. My fielders were less sluggish and opposing batters weren't connecting everytime they looked at the pitch.
I even managed to get some solid wood on the ball and hit a couple of singles and doubles. I even managed a triple... with Jason Varitek... which tells me that I should turn the speed on my baserunners down... Though it was pretty comical to watch Jason churning around the bases like that (What those thunder thighs move!)...
I'd managed to take a one run lead in the bottom of the fourth and had just hit a lead off single off the Monster in the fifth when the game froze... or rather, got stuck on the second baseman holding the ball and clapping.
So I'm not mad at you, and I still think you're sliders are great, though I wish there were an easier way to make sure they stay the way you want them. I'll try the suggestion you made on Gamespot (not saving when they ask you to). QUESTION: Is there some point when one should save the sliders?
I'm still striking out way too much (the stat I saw last showing 92% of Young's outs coming on Ks), but I think that's a combination of my weaknesses and the inherent weaknesses of this batting system. Ironically, I managed a rare (extremely) check swing in that game that was even ruled as such (not a strike). It wasn't intentional, of course, but it was nice to see.
I also need work on my pitching so that I can control batters more and freeze them a bit. I used to be good at this with MVP, but I was choosing my own pitches and spots then. I mean, I don't wanna blame the catcher but, 3-0 and you want that pitch in his wheelhouse? Mmmmm, no.***************************

Re: Try my new sliders...
Is anyone getting AI batters to swing at anything out of the zone? Even pitches like a curve that is barely out of the zone is taken, it seems.Rose City 'Til I Die

Re: Try my new sliders...
I'm trying to work on a way of increasing strikeouts but not going too far. It may take me a bit to see if I can figure something out. I think I may be on to something now but it may take a bit as the computer hitting is very sensitive sometimes in this game. I've noticed a very minor change can have a very minimal impact or at times rather significant. I'll update as soon as I am confident of the results.Comment

Re: Try my new sliders...
I have been using your sliders for about 10 games now. Gotta love them, the stats for the players as well as the game scores are pretty realistic. Also, its quite challenging both on offense and defense. I too find that the AI never swings at pitches, I get most of my outs on the field, and have passed 2-3 games without taking 1 strikeout. Also, hitting was kind of hard for me, but after some games I am getting my groove and being patient with the pitches. With these sliders the AI likes to paint the corners ALOT.
Either way, great sliders and make the games more realistic and alot better. I am hoping to have the complete update custom roster from the boards along with these sliders to start my crappy team franchise mode and take them through the years to contenders.Comment

Re: Try my new sliders...
It will be at least Monday evening before I have a chance to get back to them as I am a bit swamped with work at the moment. I was having some decent games but I'm fully confident yet. I need to see how they play against a week team and strong team over a few games, tweak, and then hopefully I'll have them out. If I get good results in my next chance I'll be sure and post some preliminary sliders of what I'm doing.Comment

Re: Try my new sliders...
I lowered the AI Take Ball Overall slider to 35 and the AI Take Ball Ahead to 40 in order to produce more strikeouts. Try it out, it'll get them to chase at more pitches out of the zone, but nothing ridiculous. They'll still not swing at anything WAY out of the zone and work the count and take walks. I've been averaging around 9 ks per 9ip for my starters.Comment

Re: Try my new sliders...
I have some fairly signfiicant changes in store based upon some recent testing. Expect some radical changes in slider settings that should produce an overall more challenging game with more K's by the AI and a slight decrease in human K's.Comment

Re: Try my new sliders...
I lowered take ball behind to 25 and take ball overall to 55, and lowered CPU skill to 95. Now they are close to perfect for me. I can pitch out of the zone (but not too far) and get them to strikeout with two strikes. Santana is still a little low, but I'll take that to get some strikeouts with the rest of the rotation. I don't want my entire staff striking out 9-10 a game, so I'll deal with Santana whiffing 5-6.Comment

Re: Try my new sliders...
These sliders are great. A few small adjustments to the AI batting and you will see an average number of strikeouts by the cpu. I've had some of my best game with these so far. Can't wait to see the update on these. Good stuff.Comment
