Re: Check Swings
I'm glad someone else noticed this too. At first i just thought it was me, but it makes sense. Because the slower pitch speeds mean slower bat speeds and bigger window of time to check swing.Comment

Re: Information on "Pitch Speed" Setting
This is the one thing i still haven't quite gotten right yet. I need to find that balance between the slow pitch speed and stealing success. I'm still not sure i've found it but it's getting closer.Last edited by TheProfessional; 04-04-2007, 01:21 AM.Comment

Re: Information on "Pitch Speed" Setting
Basically, the slider helps you judge pitches better by putting the pitches in slow motion so to speak. This is totally independent of everything else happening on the field.Comment

Re: Information on "Pitch Speed" Setting
What? The actual pitch speed doesnt change. That slider only affects how the speed of the pitch is perceived.

While you're right that the setting description says that it affects the perceived pitch speed, however i think in the actual game it actually does affect stolen base success.
I'm not sure where you have pitch speed set, but at the setting that i'm using, runners can steal very easily. (the reason why i've lowered Runner Stealing Success). Often times if there's a fast runner on first the runner will make it the bag way before the throw even reaches the base...especially if the runner runs on an off-speed pitch.Comment

Re: Information on "Pitch Speed" Setting
I play with the classic batting view with zoom at 0. I'm a big realism nut being that I played baseball in college and have actually seen a mid-90s fastball. And the most realistic pitch speed that equals the timing of what you would see if you were hitting in the pros is about 80. That means, a mid-90s fastball will get there in close to the exact timing of the real thing from sixty feet away with this batting view and zoom level
Keep in mind that this is with zoom set to zero. For those who use zoomed hitting, you have to lower your settings to adjust to the amount of zoom you use.
P.S. I use the swing stick.Last edited by Maukey; 04-04-2007, 03:04 PM.Comment

Re: Information on "Pitch Speed" Setting
Im stuck because i want the realism but i dont want to lower it to 35...i have it at 65 and i had an okay game but not enough to say that i have a full scope on it. I will try 60 and hope that it works...plus i need to zoom out i think...im at 15 now...When you see it...you'll know what it is...Comment

Re: Information on "Pitch Speed" Setting
As for the Zoom, I think 10 works great. Also, I have it on Zoom on Pitch, because from the Classic view you can't judge where the breaking pitches cross the outside of the plate. Often it will look like the pitch ended up off the plate, but it's called a strike because you don't get the right angle to see where the ball crossed the plate.Comment

Re: Information on "Pitch Speed" Setting
I've played 5 or 6 games today while testing some roster ratings changes that Im making and noticed exactly what you are talking about with the pitch speed. I cranked it up to 100 my last two games and although I struck out more, which was my goal, most of the hits were screaming hard hits. Any idea where a happy medium would be ??
Hum Contact 35
Hum bat Inf 35
Hum Power 80
Pitch speed 100
Cpu Bat AI 35
Cpu Contact 35
Cpu Power 80
I am currently in the process of making sliders and I have
simmed different setting until i am blue in the face and above is
the only bat setting I have found to have the ball
come in and leave the plate in a realistic speed.
anything below these settings the ball travels
to slow or to hard.
I know you say Pitch and Cpu power are set to high no they aren't!
Belive me if you want to have a realistic # of grounders and outfield
plays regardless if they are outs or not this is the only way to go.
Sure this makes more HRs but this way not only is the ball traveling realistic
but you aren't depriving yourself of hits and on top of that you can get
a decent amount of strikes outs too not to mention foul ballsComment
