That goes the same for when i pitched with clay buccholz. Offense just seems very weak against the better pitchers. Joe can you come up with something that gives those pitchers a challenge?
    Try these:

    AI SKILL: 65
    AI CONTACT: 50
    AI POWER: 35

Set these from zero, because I'm not sure what the DEFAULT # is. Once you set them make sure you checked the top to see if the sliders still say CUSTOM-A

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory

Man, I had a great game with these sliders last night. Went to Oakland with the Brewers and lost 7-6 in 11 innings. My ninth walked batter of the game was Eric Chavez with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th.

      MILW-6-15-2
      OAK -7-7-0

I had 8 singles, 6 doubles, and 1 HR, and the A's had 5 singles and 2 doubles. The fact that I walked 9 guys and had 2 key errors cost me the game. I also led 4-1, 5-4, and 6-5, and the A's came back every inning to tie it. The starters were Gaudin and Suppan. Neither starter made it out of the 5th. Through 9 innings I had thrown 144 pitches and the A's had thrown 140. I threw 181 for the game.

The only thing different about the sliders I used were the hitting sliders for myself and the CPU.

      AI Skill-90
AI Contact-whatever the default for this set is
      AI Power-12

      Skill-100
      Contact-Default for this set.
      Power-Default for this set.

Ok so where exactly is the sliders? Do I still just take the ones from page 1??

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory

I played about 6 more games using the same sliders posted for cpu hitting on the first page and i got to retract my comments about offense being weak. I played toronto and detroit. One game with clay bucholz i gave up 5 runs and josh beckett gave up 2 runs, dice k gave up 4. I am playing some good ball at the moment. but i will try the sliders you advised me to try to see how they play. Are those currently the AI batting sliders you are using joe?

I'm using a similar theory, but a bit more skill and less of the other 2:

            AI SKILL: 75
            AI CONTACT: 30
            AI POWER: 20

I had it at 75/40/20, but the computer was averaging almost 2 hits/inning and I was getting almost no swing and misses. The computer has little problem still hitting the ball hard on these settings, but you don't see your outside corner nailing slider at the knees end up in the seats quite as much.

AI power is kind of a head scratching slider in this game. The problem is, I think it's too tied in with skill. If you have both too high, you end up getting shredded on homers and extra base hits. Both too low and the computer is reduced to strikeouts and weak grounders.

Curious to hear your results with these settings. Mine are pretty close to them (90S-35C-12P). I get a good variety of hits from the CPU, but the HRs are a bit low. I'm afraid if I bump the power up I'll start seeing those games where the doubles turn into HRs.

Re: The OS Breakdown of the 2K Slider Theory

Is anyone having much luck with the AI not taking so many called 3rd strikes? Probably 8 or 9 out of 10 of my Ks are of the called variety. I've tried having their take strike behind at zero & five, but still see far too many. The problem might be that I have their take strike overall rather high so that they will take some pitches. It seems that if I lower that below 75, they hack at every strike, especially on the first pitch...

im sorry in advance for being the newb but joe i was wondering if you (or any1) could post a reply with the updated list of sliders . im currently using the default allstar sliders and while having a good time not getting what i think is realistic results. im 5-5 as mets (which is alright) but iv had 3 shutouts in 1 week hitting almost a hr everygame with Beltran and hardly getting anything past a single. i started using your sliders last year from the 2kboards, and while losen 1-0 to the brew crew it dawned on me tonight

Glad to hear that you have some new slider ideas. I can't wait to see whats new. I personally feel you got cpu hitting tweaked pretty good but i do have a problem with human hitting, i felt it was kinda unrealistic i was seeing too many homers still. I have tried to come up with a good set of human hitting sliders myself but i still haven't found the right combo yet. I am either seeing too much power or not enough. I do feel there is a setting there that will work. I hope you can can come up with some good human hitting sliders. Can't wait to see what you come up with.
