Also turn strikezone on for the human batter, this helps with patience and learning the strikezone of the different hitters which is dynamic according to size and batting stance. The last game I played Mets vs Diamondbacks in the desert Santana vs Web. The diamondback pitchers threw 129 pitches overall and 45 balls. The balls could have been more if I had been more patient.

Re: Amazin86er's All Star Custom Settings and Sliders

I made a few adjustments that have changed this game from being good to sometimes being nail-biting intense and fantastic. First thing I did was use the Wide hitting camera at 100 zoom(THIS IS REGULAR WIDE CAMERA NOT ZOOM WIDE). This might sound crazy at first but with the strikezone on and using this camera you can judge the pitch speed and types more easily and it also seems to add realism to the experience. I turned inside edge back to its default setting of on and noticed pitchers actually throw not just more balls but balls that are actually off the corners such as 4-8 inches off the plate inside, outside, up, down, and in the dirt(Finally!). Absolutely loving this game right now. Would like to get some feedback on these settings and sliders maybe they will work for some of the community if your struggling to find settings you like.

I like where the sliders are heading but i see way too many homers being hit by myself with the redsox against aces. I will try to increase pitcher difficulty by 25 and see how that works out.

Did some more tuning. I wasn't seeing enough ground ball base hits so I lowered infielder speed to 15 for both Human and AI, also some outfielders were getting to too many gap shots so lowered outfielder speed to 30(MAY HAVE TO GO LOWER) for both Human and AI. Raised the AI Hitters Contact to 20 hoping to get more ground ball hits and a little extra authority overall. I try to play 3 test games after making changes. The first game is Ace vs Ace, the second is a #3 starter vs #3 starter, and the third #5 starter vs #5 starter. With these settings I am now getting a good amount of walks and overall pitch counts seem pretty good.

Hey Redsox4ever just watched Santana and Lester pitch 4 fantastic innings each in Spring Training on SNY. Anyways let me know how raising the pitcher difficulty goes.

Re: Amazin86er's All Star Custom Settings and Sliders

Just noticed somewhat of a problem while playing the Rockies in which hitters would take pitches right down the middle far to often so I have adjusted the take strike setting to more normal settings of take strike overall 50, take strike ahead 65, and take strike behind 60. I am going to leave take balls settings where they are at 10 because the AI just does not swing at enough balls. I tested the take strike settings with Mets vs Phillies and the ai seemed to take a realistic amount of strikes. Still lots of fine tuning left but I feel I am getting close to a realistic game of baseball.

I just started a franchise, but I did make a few noteworthy changes. I adjusted the ai outfielders speed back up to 40 because anything lower and they take the wrong routes on flyballs sometimes. I left Human outfielder speed at 30 which feels just right. I increased the ai hitter contact to 25 because I am getting better at pitching and with the new take balls and strikes settings the ai hitters take more strikes and swing at more balls which makes it more realistic in my opinion. I changed take balls ahead and take balls behind to 50 and now the ai hitters swing at a realistic amount of balls. Leave ai take balls overall at 10. Finally I changed pitcher difficulty to 60. These will be the last changes I make until I finish 15 to 20 games in franchise to see where we stand.

Updated sliders in first post. I am using AI Take Balls and Strikes sliders from the BFJ slider thread so thanks go out to the community. One other thing that is a problem figuring out is the AI Skill settings. I think this will be a work in progress for a while.

Seeing good variety with this slider set. Last game was Mets vs Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre.

                        Mets 9R 12H 2E
                        Blue Jays 5R 10H 2E

                        Martinez 7IP 5H 3ER 1BB 8k 0HBP 89P 61S 28B
                        Burnett 4IP 5H 5ER 5BB 3k 1HBP 71P 43S 28B

                        Total Pitches Thrown
                        Mets 116P 80S 36B
                        Blue Jays 146P 86S 60B

This ballgame was 5-3 Mets until the 8th when I added some much needed insurance runs. I also bumped the Total Control Pitching slider to 50 for this game because it was becoming to easy. Also only one homerun from each club which I like.

Still hitting way to many homers so I am dropping the Human Power slider to 45 which is the same as the AI Power which has been perfect and realistic so far. Also moved the Total Control Pitching to 50 and honestly I can only see it going up from here on out. Really enjoying MLB 2K8 and really haven't touched MLB The Show 08 since I picked it up the same day as 2K8 but I am sure I will in the coming days of the infancy which is the 2008 baseball season.

The only thing left to tweak really is Human Hitting which I feel will continue to drop and hopefully a patch for framerate and AI basestealing.

Do not feel like there will be any major changes to this slider set so Franchise full steam ahead(will be making minor tweaks to sliders as needed throughout).

Well Spring Training has just ended and the big story of the spring was the arrival and anticipation of Johan Santana. Santana and Martinez form one of the best one two punches in the game or history of the game for that matter. With fifteen game winners Oliver Perez and John Maine in the three and four spots the Mets rotation should be one of the best in baseball. Not to go unnoticed in the spring was the play of Angel Pagan whose all around play, hustle, and generally good baseball instincts made him a virtual lock to make the team and go north. Pagan became a favorite of Manager Willie Randolph who said Pagan "was his kind of player."
The Mets look to put 2007 behind them quickly by opening the 2008 season against the young and talented Florida Marlins. First pitch 4:10 PM Miami,FL. PLAY BALL!!!
