I'm using the Mets and am currently 1-1, although I'm behind 3-1 in the 7th in a game that I had to save. Johan is absolutely lights out.

      March 31-April 3 Miami, FL
      Mets vs Marlins

The Mets opened the 2008 season with a bang by jumping all over Marlins Starting Pitcher Scott Olsen for five runs in the first inning of the Mets 14-2 drubbing of the Marlins. Olsen only managed to go two thirds of an inning in the outing saying "I just didn't have a good feel for it today." Johan Santana was masterful in his debut going seven strong innings allowing just one run on three hits while walking one and striking out nine. Santana allowed one run on three hits in the first but did not allow another hit in the outing. Asked about Santana's debut Willie Randolph commented " what did you expect a no hitter?(LAUGHS) He'll get that next time out."

Game two was another drubbing by the Mets in a 10-4 win over the Marlins. Pedro Martinez went seven strong innings allowing one run on five hits while walking one and striking out seven. The Mets bullpen gave up three late inning runs in the ballgame. Willie Randolph was asked what he thought of Pedro's outing had this to say " Vintage Pedro, I've been around this game for a long time and I can tell you that was vintage."

Game three saw the Mets lose a heart breaker to the Marlins in the bottom half of the ninth inning 6-5. Oliver Perez was hit hard early and often but did manage three scoreless innings after giving up five runs in the first two. Sergio Mitre shut down the Mets through seven. Entering the eighth down 5-1 the Mets tied the ballgame on baseloaded clearing double off the bat of David Wright, but the Mets were shut down the rest of the way and Pedro Feliciano gave up a run in the ninth to take the loss. Willie Randolph had this to say about Perez's outing "with Oliver it's all about command, man, command, command, command. I thought he threw the ball well after the first two innings." Asked about his bullpens early season performance Randolph added " well guys are getting in game shape, and defining roles, I trust my guys, come on now, after three games, come on guys it's early."

New York area media reporting rumored Coco Crisp for Angel Pagan deal. General Manager Omar Minaya could not be reached for comment. Willie Randolph offered a "no comment" when asked leading to more speculation.

Made two small changes to sliders. I bumped Human Power up to 50(After dropping it from 60 to 45 I was not seeing enough hard hit balls whether it be base hits or outs). I dropped the Step Influence to 25(With pitchers that change speeds alot I was a little more off balance than I should be).

Re: Amazin86er's All Star Custom Settings and Sliders

By the way regarding my Met's Franchise, I did a ingame save last night which will not load. It just hard locks the XBOX 360, but anyways I went to Atlanta and swept the Braves, won my home opener against Philly and the second game of the series but lost the third game then the BrewCrew came to the big city and let me tell you they absolutely dominated me. The Brewers lineup was impossible to get through without giving up something and Ben Sheets and Eric Gagne in this game-NASTY!!! This seems to be where this Franchise must come to an end so my advice to anyone doing an ingame save is to not save it over your regular franchise save, save it separately!

I am just glad this happened only 11 games into the season.

Made three changes to slider set. First the AI Infielder and Outfielder Error sliders I dropped to 30 because I am seeing to many AI errors overall, next is the Total Control Pitching I bumped to 55 which is a good overall challenge in my opinion.

Guys I had to restart my Franchise so here we go:

Well Spring Training has just ended and the big story of the spring was the arrival and anticipation of Johan Santana. Santana and Martinez form one of the best one two punches in the game or history of the game for that matter. With fifteen game winners Oliver Perez and John Maine in the three and four spots the Mets rotation should be one of the best in baseball. Not to go unnoticed in the spring was the play of Angel Pagan whose all around play, hustle, and generally good baseball instincts made him a virtual lock to make the team and go north. Pagan became a favorite of Manager Willie Randolph who said Pagan "was his kind of player."
The Mets look to put 2007 behind them quickly by opening the 2008 season against the young and talented Florida Marlins. First pitch 4:10 PM Miami,FL. PLAY BALL!!!

                      OPENING DAY 2008
SANTANA WINS DEBUT WITH SOLID EFFORT

Johan Santana made his much anticipated New York Met debut in the Mets 3-2 win against the Florida Marlins. Santana was very solid in his effort going seven innings allowing just five hits, one earned run, no walks, and five strikeouts. Dan Uggla homered off Santana in the first which proved to be the only mistake Santana would make in the outing. When asked about his 2008 Opening Day performance Santana offered this "well overall I felt very good, I left a ball up and over the plate in the first but I had alot of energy going ya know, glad to get the win and looking forward to the next one." Scott Olsen started for the Marlins going five and two thirds innings allowing four hits, three runs, one earned, walking two, while striking out five. In the ninth things got a little tight when Hanly Ramirez led off with a homer off of closer Billy Wagner who then allowed two more hits but retired the next three hitters to get out of the jam and preserve the win. Willie Randolph had this to say about the opening day win "it's always good to win the opener, you know to get out fast, good win today." Asked about Santana's debut Willie commented "what did you expect a no hitter?(LAUGHS) He'll get that next time out."

                      !!!!!BREAKING NEWS ALERT!!!!!
In a surprise move the New York Mets have signed Mike Piazza to a one year contract. Details on the contract are unknown at this time. Piazza will report to Triple A New Orleans. Piazza is expected to play through the month of April for the Zephyrs to get in game shape and then join the parent club in early May. Asked about the Piazza signing General Manager Omar Minaya had this to say "with Mike were talking about a first ballot hall of famer you know what I sayin', a true proffessional. Mike will offer a big right handed bat off the bench and also will serve as third catcher if need be. Mike just wants to be one of the guys hopefully on a championship team. I can tell you this he is very happy to be back in the orange and blue."

                        GAME #2 APRIL 2, 2008
PIAZZA RETURNS BUT PEDRO STEALS SHOW

A day after announcing the imminent return of fan favorite Mike Piazza to the New York Mets organization another future hall of famer , Pedro Martinez, took the mound and looked to prove that he had plenty of quality innings left in his surgically repaired right shoulder. Martinez coming off a year in which he only made five starts because of having to undergo shoulder surgery in October of 2006 dominated the Florida Marlins as if it was the year 1999 instead of 2008 in a 3-1 victory. Martinez went eight dominating innings keeping the Marlin hitters off balance throughout with an assortment of two-seam fastballs, curve balls, change ups, and an occassional slider. Martinez's velocity reached as high as 92 and as low as 67 on some Mickey Mouse looking curveballs making the Marlins hitters look silly. The only run Martinez allowed came on a forth inning Josh Willingham opposite field homerun. Martinez's final line looked like eight innings pitched, six hits allowed, one earned run, zero walks, and six strkeouts. Billy Wagner recorded his second save in as many chances. Wagner allowed a lead off single to Hanley Ramirez but retired the next three hitters to retire the side. Sergio Mitre took the loss for the Marlins going six innings allowing six hits, three runs, one earned run, four walks, and five strikeouts. Jose Reyes was two for five with three stolen bases in the game. Asked about Martinez's effort Willie Randolph had this to say "that is what a healthy Pedro Martinez is like, dominant. Period. The man is a pitching magician just constantly keeping hitters off balance." Martinez added this when asked about his first start of 2008 "this is the best I have felt in many years, I just feel really good, and that makes Pedro Martinez a really good pitcher, watch out National League Pedro's back."

These settings and sliders should make for a fairly realistic game of baseball. What I have tried to accomplish is reduce the amount of homeruns hit, get a more variety of hits which allows for other ways to score, deep pitch counts, and fielders that react properly and take the correct routes on balls put in play. There is only so much you can do with this game engine before making sacrifices in other areas.
KK I'll have to give these a try later tonight. I'll post my results with my redsox team with beckett pitching.

I just put your sliders into my franchise to see how they work. And MAN were they a pain in the *** to put in without numbers on the sliders. They REALLY need to add this....ESPECIALLY since you can't load settings/sliders every time you start a new franchise. I'm praying the patch adds this but I doubt it. It seems like a pretty simple fix to me.

CPU skill at 100 is just to unrealistic. All i can say is use tim wakefield with CPU skill being 100 and cpu contact and power being zero and they still light him up like a christmas tree. For some reason there seems to be no happy compromise with the sliders it's either too much offense or not enough. I'll keep trying to find the magic number though.
