Can anyone post some results from these sliders? I'll do the same later today, and it would be nice to compare.

Joe:
You might want to play around with dropping the User Batting Pitch Influence slider instead of bumping the User Power slider. For me that has been the answer to getting power(not just HRs but overall hit quality) back to where it was pre-patch. One five point bump down seems to get as much change as a fifteen to twenty point bump up in power.Comment

fenwaymac, I have always believed that when you set the sliders from whatever setting you chose, they become CUSTOM to that setting & not just custom. So with these setting them from LEGEND creates a CUSTOM LEGEND Setting instead of just CUSTOM. Many have argued other wise & as always I have never gotten a clear answer from 2K, but for me that what I feel happens when you adjust from a Setting
belljr & jeffy777 as for hitting, these feel good for both the User & AI. These sliders DO NOT give you a HR Fest. (Though POWER Slider seems HIGH) You will have to work for hits with these. You also will have to be smart @ the plate. Not to mention having to be smart when pitching also. Games will vary in results & most important will be fun. @ least for me they have been.Comment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
I tested out the sliders in a game where I was the Reds and I played the Mets. It was a very good game. It was Harang vs. Santana and Santana of course kicked my a$$.
The final was 2-1 Mets. The mets scored a run in the second on a Ryan Church sac fly that drove in Beltran who had doubled to lead off the inning. They left a runner on third as well that inning.
They also got a HR in the 3rd from Reyes. I absolutely f'ed up on the pitching meter and I paid as the pitch went right down broadway. The Mets finished the game with 6 hits.
The problem I had was hitting. I hit two balls hard and both times David Wright robbed me of hits. I had a total of 4 hits and all of them were bloop singles except for a high liner that Castillo jumped for and it hit off of his glove and bounced into right field. It was a cool looking play. The run I did get was in the 8th when Santana was no longer pitching. It was a cheap run cuz that play off of Castillos glove was the only hit I got in the inning. The other two at bats were ground balls that moved the runner to third and then eventually home.
The only thing that angered me is the fact they took Santana out after 7 when he only gave up 2 hits. I don't know if that has to do with stamina or just the managers making decisions. I would assume the managers making decisions. Francisco Rodriguez came in in the 9th and I got a bloop single but that was all.
I don't know if it was just the Reds hitters not being very good but it just seemed like I couldn't hit a ball hard at all. I know I was facing Santana so it could just be that it's hard to hit really good pitchers. Other than this the game was really good. I liked the pitching a lot. I turn off the KZONE and Strike zone boxes so you have to find the strike zone which made me throw some balls.
Also one more thing is the CPU really didn't take that many more pitches. I would say the average pitches per at bat was about two or three. I don't know if this can be fixed with the sliders because there is no slider for CPU agressivness. It certainly is better than before the 2nd patch but not a huge difference.Last edited by bwiggy33; 04-06-2009, 01:25 PM.NHL-Minnesota Wild

I believe I got three or four K's with Harang. If I remember correctly one of them was looking. Other than that it was really about three pitch at bats. I think the Walks rating in Inside Edge really has an effect on how many pitches a player takes.NHL-Minnesota Wild

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
I got 5 runs on 6 hits, and 1 BB (solo HR for Teixeira)
6 hits, 5 singles and 1 hr...Guthrie is only a 77 rating though...
I like the user pitching, I think, but it's too easy to pinpoint the pitches. That slider should be about 90-95 I think. Users should have a walk or so a game, unintentionally...Last edited by JHedges2; 04-06-2009, 01:38 PM.Arsenal | New York YankeesComment

instead up downloading, I think I will try manual entry to see if I can keep the opportunity to get cards (worth a shot at least).
Also looking forward to hearing more results throughout the day on these.
And not to press the issue too much, but thanks again Joe, you do us all a great service in what can be a often thankless task.Comment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
Only playing 3 innings vs. the O's for my test. Seeing as they aren't very good, I want to play another 3 inning set vs. a better caliber team (Boston). With that said, here are some notes...
I found I was able to crush Guthrie's pitching, for 6 runs and 9 hits in 3 innings. Although of those 9 hits, 8 were singles, and i had the solo shot from Tex in the first. So, hitting was easy, vs. the crappy O's (no offense)
Pitching, began not being as precise in the 3rd, which is cool, it wasn't difficult, but I was def. throwing more balls. I did raise the "gesture recognition" slider up to 80, and pitcher composure to 90.
Pitching stats were as follows:
Sabathia: 3 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 4 K (33 pitches/28 strikes)
Guthrie: 3 IP, 9 H, 6 ER, 1BB, 0 K (43 pitches/29 strikes)Arsenal | New York YankeesComment

Re: "OS & BFJ" Present MLB 2K9 Spring Training Sliders
Here is my problem with all sliders. I am able to get balls and strikes looking but when it comes to getting the third strike looking, I just can't do it. I have seen where some of you have looking strikeouts, how are you doing it? What pitches do you throw? and where?
Also, how can I use IE to my advantage when pitching to get looking strikes?
Thanks.Comment
