Yea, it would be helpful if, Guru, on your first post, just put the (new) numbers your changed next to the old ones so that we can see each difference in the sets. Thanks man.

I see that you said Batting Pitch Influence determines how selective the CPU batters are.

IF that were true then why would they have the same slider for us the player? I mean we ourselves choose to swing at a pitch so a slider for that just doesnt make sense..

Really wish 2k would put out a detailed slider chart but i doubt even they know what all the sliders do

The batting pitch influence relates to the influence that your swing will have on the specific pitch...

for example..the higher this slider is for the cpu the easier it is for them to hit any type of pitch you throw to them.

same thing applies to humans....you control the swing but the influence on the outcome will be determine by the slider...

sorry but the sliders are not rocket science...people tend to make it out to be more then it is....

I have seen the opposite with batting pitch influence. The higher it is the more effect the location and type have on the type of hit. The higher it is the harder it is to pull an outside pitch, lift a low pitch, etc.

Re: ~Guru's~ Post Patch Sliders V1.0-3.0

Tried a game using these sliders as a base set, with slight edits to my style (ex. Lowered pitch speed to 80, slightly more User batting Power (85), and Pitcher Fatigue set to 35).

              NYY 5-11-0
              CWS 0-9-0

              Pettitte: 7.0 IP, 3K, 2BB, 8 Hits, 0 ER, 103 pitches thrown
              Danks: 7.1 IP, 2 ER, 4K, 0BB, 93 pitches thrown

It was a 0-0 game until the 8th when Danks ran out of gas, and gave up 2. I had my chances plenty of times, but I ended up grounding into 2 or 3 double plays that just killed my momentum.

For some reason I'm having issues scoring in this game. I can get my hits, but when it comes time to cash them in I just choke. For what its worth, I only bat with the right stick (meaning I don't use the left stick at all to "infuence" direction")

Anywho, this is just my first game using these sliders. Overall the game was very very enjoyable. Danks got 2 K's with the batters looking, so that was cool. One thing I don't think there is any way to edit is the User throwing walks.

Does this slider mean its easier for the AI to pull balls that are on the outside part of the plate or off the plate outside? Because if it is, then Im with Guru here. Im playing with this slider at 75 and the AI is getting "good wood" on pitches they should not be. Sliders tailing away from batters are being pulled into the opposite gap and balls in the dirt are being scooped for line drives. Very few batters like Soriano and Guerrero can do that.

I think this slider should be lowered.

I think more foul balls are possible, as someone in the patch impressions thread said he was getting a ton, but maybe we just need a little more tweaking to get more.
That was me. Unfortunately I was not happy with the amount of line drives and shots in the gap the AI was hitting off of me so I bumped up the power and success slider for the AI a bit. And in my opinion when you bump the success slider it takes away form the amount of foul balls. I could be wrong, or maybe foul balls is a game to game, team to team thing. I am not seeing as many foul balls anymore. Sorry.

In my experience lowering the slider makes it easier to pull away pitches, line or lift really low pitches, etc not harder. Raising it make its harder. At least that is what I am seeing for both the AI and the User.

My interpretation of the wording and my time playing with the slider is the higher the slider the more pitch location/type influences what kind of hits you see.

Are the sliders on the first page still your first version post patch? You said you've made some changes, just looking to see what those were specifically...? Thanks.

Sorry but some of them seem to be. The labels given to some are basically nonsensical and no descriptions are provided. The fact that many people are still debating which way to move sliders to get the desired affect proves that they aren't that straightforward. I started a thread on this forum asking for someone who has worked with the sliders a lot to give a breakdown of the slider system. Almost 100 views and no takers. I really like this game (esp after patch 2) but this slider system blows.

I hear ya, my experience has been the opposite. I have the slider at 75 and breaking balls tailing away from batters are being pulled, fast balls up and away OFF the plate are being smacked forhomers and balls in the dirt are being golfed for hits. Its so frustrating because all 2K has to do is give a description of the sliders and tell you which way they work by increasing and decreasing.

Turn the AI Strike Zone Tendency slider down for more balls.
