i played Cards (me) vs. Mets (CPU) last night.

great game - wainwright pitched 8 innings (94 pitches) and struck out 8, giving up 2 runs (1 earned). i brought in reyes and he blows up giving up 6 runs, never recording an out. mcclellan finished out, giving up a run or two of his own. i got shutout 9-0 against santana. three times i had runners at the corners with less than 2 outs and couldn't get it done.

but i still don't like my sliders as i feel i've made pitching a bit too hard - relievers just get shelled in this game as most of them have awful attributes.

oh well... at least i have fun editing rosters (LOL!).

but i'm looking forward to your latest set... thanks! mike
    Brewers Braves game ended up:

    Braves 7 13 2
    Brewers 5 12 0

    Braves 9 Singles, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 homer, 5 walks
    Brewers 8 Singles, 2 doubles, 2 homers, 1 walk

Two of my singles were errors that they misscored. One of the brewers singles I got an error on and they were given a hit. Game doesn't get the scoring right very much.

These sliders played well. I injured their starter so i was hitting vs. tired relievers most of the game. They were facing Lowe who I cant pitch with to save my life. Lowe only went 3 2/3 inning.

I've updated the first post, these sliders feel good.

Played tuesday 7/28 Braves Marlins game:

        Braves 6 11 1
        Marlins 2 7 2

Braves 7 singles 1 double 1 triple 1 homerun 2 walks. The homerun was an inside the parker by Nate McLouth. Center fielder tried to make a running leaping catch on a ball and it went over his glove and rolled into the abyss out in the 434ft part of Dolphins park. Scored without a throw at the plate. Marlins also dropped two fly balls in the outfield.

Marlins 6 singles 1 double 0 walks 1 hit batter. Strung a few hits together against Vazquez but that was about it. Their potent offense really got shut down but Vazquez has been lights out all year.

Unfortunately Vazquez took a line drive up the middle to the head and got a concussion and will miss 17 days (3 starts). Sucks because he's the clear favorite for the Cy Young (16-3, 2.12 ERA, LIGHTS OUT!). I recalled Tim Hudson to replace him as Huddy is doing rehab starts in real life I figure it's realistic enough to bring him up to replace Vazquez at this point.

Sliders are still playing well. I'm going to continue to use them. Hopefully the CPU will challenge me a bit in the next few games, I've won quite a bit lately.

Played Wednesday 7/29's Braves Marlins game:

          Jurrjens vs. Josh Johnson

          Braves 10 15 1
          Marlins 3 11 1

          Braves 11 singles 2 doubles 1 triple 1 homerun 2 walks 6 strikeouts
          Marlins 8 singles 1 double 1 triple 1 homerun 1 walk 7 strikeouts

Knocked Josh Johnson out after three innings it was 5-1. McCann blasted a homerun, no hit direction influence needed, straight up 2 run shot. Two of the marlins singles could've easily been doubles as they were smacked off the left field wall but Diaz was playing deep and got the ball back in quickly holding the runners. Uggla hit a solo shot in the 4th. The marlins triple was a misplayed ball in the outfield (outfield glitch) which led to a run. All three earned runs charged to Jurrjens who went 6 innings and got the win.

I can't decide if the sliders are a little too easy or if I'm playing good baseball lately. I believe I'm 12 or 14 games over .500. I'm in first by 4.5 games now since I've beat the second place Marlins two games already out of this three game series.

Still sticking with the sliders I've got. I'll play a few more games and post the results. If anything I'll up the pitching sliders some more.

Great sliders Blazzen. I just can't seem to stay away from this game even though I have the Show! Its been a minor obsession of mine over the past couple of days to get some sliders that feel right and I think I'm almost there.

I'm using yours but have turned down contact for both the user and CPU to 35-40. Which I'm still undecided on. I played 3 games with these today and it was scarily realistic. I played the Rockies at the Mets whilst watching the game on TV ended up with the Mets winning 7-2. (They won 7-3 in the real world)

Each game was fairly tight defensively as I ended up with the scores 7-2, 2-0 and had to quit up 2-0 in the 5th. If anything I think I may have to raise CPU contact every so slightly.

Also your suggestion to lower fielder speed to 50 has made a huge difference in extra base hits. Before it was either singles or homers, now I've managed some doubles and a couple of triples. (Without fielding calamities by the CPU)

So thank you for the sliders! I'll keep following your progress.

My time with this game has been incredibly hot and cold. I swear off it forever then come back a month later with some new sliders and find it plays like baseball. If I could only get rid of the feast or famine HR situation then I would be sitting pretty.

              Thanks for the feedback!

Regarding the contact sliders, just so you know, it doesn't effect strikeout rate that much. It's more of a "solid contact" slider, not a "hit or miss" slider if that makes sense. What helped with the user getting pitching strikeouts was raising the user hold timing influence so that if you charged up a pitch and threw it with high effectiveness it made it harder for the CPU to hit it. As far as user batting strikeouts it's more on the user. If you work the count and try to get more walks you'll get more strikeouts as well. I take a lot of pitches, especially ones that I know are strikes but if I put it in play it will be an out anyways (low and away strikes). You can try tweaking contact but it will also lower the amount of times you make solid contact which WILL decrease the amount of homeruns you hit. Yes, the contact slider does effect homeruns.

EDIT: I did make a few slight slider modifications. Raised user pitching composure to 80 and the pitch rating and break to 100. Was more of my OCD coming through wanting to have round numbers. Also lowered CPU errors and user errors by 10 points each.

                Re: Blazzen's Slider Research Thread

i've had the user pitcher composure at 100 - bad idea. the minute they give up a hit, and then 2 - well, the wheels come completely off and they'll just shell you.

i moved it back down to 75, but might try 80 (as you suggested).

also, i've put my user batting at 60 (success) - 20 (contact) and 80 (power) and they seem perfect for me.

been toying with user power...think i'm gonna run with 75.

80 is too much...70 is not enough (warning track power). more experimentation...

I change them too often to do 2kshare. Maybe when I get a set I'm really happy with. I won't be tweaking them for a bit because I'm going out of the country this saturday through next.

I'm back. I've played a couple games and they've all been good. I actually got pounded on by the Padres and shut out by the Dodgers. Keeping the same settings. I think the ones I have might be the ones I stick with.
