Re: Holy Grail of Sliders for MLB 2k10

bulls23, congrats on a great slider set. I love the classic hitting option and the variety of hits I am getting with this set. I made a couple of tweaks to the sliders to suit my liking. I will post these edits for you to review and consider.

I moved the hitting power slider down to 90 for hum/cpu. I felt the number of homeruns per game was too high for both teams and moving the slider down 5 points has allowed for either multiple or no homer games for each team.

I also moved the fielder speed up to 50 for hum/cpu. I was seeing too many triples when the reality is these extra base hits are not that common over the course of a season. There are still doubles to be had and the rare triple to the deep gaps with the slider at 50.

Lastly, I moved the pitch meter speed to 100. I can still pinpoint pitches for the most part but this really starts to become harder as the game wears on. I was not walking anyone before this edit and now I have to groove one in for a strike if I am behind in the count. I like the fact that I can walk the cpu if I am trying to hit the corner of the strike zone throughout an at-bat.

Great slider set, again. You have made this game much more enjoyable for me to play.

        Fellas,

With the Contact at 35 for USE and CPU as well as CPU Pitch Success at 75 are you guys seeing a lot of strikeouts?

Here's my recent issue. I have been tearing the cover off the ball in my Twins franchise. Every hitter in the lineup is over 300 and Mauer has a 19 game hitting streak and he's batting .450. In a recent game against KC I had 27 hits and in a game with the Orioles against Boston I had 19. That was with 40CON/90POW and CPU Pitch Skill at 50. CPU Fielder Speed at 50.

I obviously needed to make changes. I upped the CPU Pitch Skill to 85. I noticed a difference right away in that the CPU is MUCH better at hitting the corners and keeping the ball out of the middle of the plate. That's a good thing.

The bad thing was that I was striking out 12-15 times per game. Clearly an unrealistic number. The other issue is that in the event that I did make contact most of the time the contact resulted in a base hit.

The issue is that if I lower the Skill, I make batter contact which means more hits. If I lower the Power slider I'm back to just singles and HRs.

i hope you don't mind me putting in my 2 cents here but i follow the advice of bulls 23, and i'm at 35 con/ 95 power for both user and cpu.
i also have the cpu pitch skill at 75 and pitch speed at 75, depending on which starter i'm facing, i can get between 7 to 13 or 14 hits.
and i'm still kind of tweaking with the fielder speed but i think i like it at 40.
these provide for me a pretty good baseball experience.

i use 35 contact and 95 power, along with fielder speed at 40...PERFECT in my opinion.

i played a 15 inning game the other day that was an absolute blast. i was cleveland vs. kansas city (exhibition). i trailed 1-0 until getting a run in the 8th inning. i tied it and then loaded the bases. they got a double play to get out of the inning.

i got in a bind in the 12th inning, giving up a leadoff double and then a stolen base. i got a pop up and kept the guy at 3rd. i then intentionally walked the next batter and then induced an inning ending double play.

i then lost in the 15th inning, giving up 2 runs. i got a leadoff single and then got picked off at 1st (this game is VERY touchy on that, but i kinda liked it). nothing going from there... lost 3-1. KC had 13 hits and i had 12, but i had a TON of fun playing, which is the point, right?

Re: Holy Grail of Sliders for MLB 2k10

Well today I played a game Twins vs. Yanks of course I was the Twins. I played the best video game baseball I've played in probabaly the last 2 years. The Yanks won 6-5 in 10 innings. Cano homered in the top of the 10th. However I battled back from down 2 runs in the 8th and 1 run in the 9th. I could have won the game in the 9th cuz I had runners on 2nd and 3rd with Morneau at the plate with 1 out. Well I SO and Cuddyer grounded out next AB. Anyway I knocked Mariano out in the 9th after he blew the save so that was really cool.

As for hits neither team had double digits. I had 9 cuz of a hitting flurry in the 9th. The Yanks had 7. Blackburn and Burnett both pitched really well. Both guys gave up 3 I believe. The mixture of hits was absolutely perfect. The Yanks did have 3 HR's (Nick Johnson, Granderson, and Cano). All were legit with mistake pitches. Other than that they had singles and doubles. Guys like A Rod and Tex were not overpowering like they can be with other sliders. They didn't hit HR's and doubles every AB. It was cool to see the Yankee players with less power hit HR's. Even though the only guy in that lineup that can't hit Hr's is gardener. As for me I had a HR with Kubel in the 2nd and the rest were doubles and singles. Delmon Young had a monster day with 2 doubles and a single all to the RF corner.

Best part about the game was I didn't have a single hit with Morneau and I may not have had a hit with Mauer. If I did it was a single. Normally I can crack balls all around the diamond with those 2. Overall amazing game. Classic hitting is definitely key. With swing stick if you lower user power too much your power hitters will still hit but bad hitters won't be able to get the ball out of the infield. Classic hitting seems perfect and I dont even miss using the swing stick.

what is everyone pitch meter speed still at 50?

anyone find hitting home runs at 95 too easy?

I am not really finding HRS too easy but I am finding hitting to be too easy.
I am now getting atleast 15-17 hits per game. I am thinking up upping the fielding speed to 50 and cpu pitching success to 85.
Like I said the last 10 games or so I am just getting way too many hits.

well, i personally think that both upping the cpu fielder speed to 50 and also raising cpu pitching success to 85 would do the job for you. i would also consider raising the pitch speed possibly ( if you don't have it maxed out already ).

I wonder if the camera people are using, is causing a difference. I do see some games with an awful lot of hits (13 plus) but then I see some games where I only get 7-10.

dont feel like searching through the whole thread, but do sliders fix the stamina problem with pitchers throwing unreal amount of pitches?

do the sliders also do a good job of tuning down the outfielders arms?

i want to buy this game, but if its broken i think i will pass...

I have the PC version, which I guess is total control, and I use these sliders. They work great for me, but I do use the sticks as though it were classic hitting (using contact swing only). I am hitting a few HR's but not many, 12 in the last month. Doubles seem realistic.

My batting averages are way too high (team average .313). But, I hit into a lot of double plays, which effectively increases batting average. I am also swing happy, 3 walks in 2 months. This puts my OPS in the low end of the league. So I figure its a good trade with the Batting Average.
