On the user pitching - yes, I recognize the difficulty of that. But here's the problem for ME: I've been playing this title for 3-4 years now, and I've gotten really good at understanding the pitching mechanics. I NEVER walk guys, so I need the extra challenge. I played a game two days ago, and when I kept count I nailed perfect pitches 24 times using these settings. So it can be done. You can tone down the pitch meter speed and also raise user pitching accuracy to help you. And as shogun stated, just change it as you get better.

I should have some new settings up tonight or Saturday. Nothing major, but will get the game playing the best it can!

Page 1 - Post 1 Updated. LOVE the way these play. Note the biggest change is the cpu pitch movement. Also slightly raised user throwing error / user gather error (don't be scared - the new 25 anticipation global edits to the 360 roster smooths out the animations - I feel this is a necessity to get errors. Tested this HEAVILY and like these numbers). Be sure to double-check your numbers with what I've posted so you have them entered correctly. Thanks!

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

Two small changes to the slider set I added:

        - pitching fatigue (settings) is now at 55
        - AI pitch success is now at 80

I felt that 1) pitchers were tiring a bit too quickly (mostly for the cpu) - I wish this had TWO separate sliders for both the user and cpu. I lowered it from 60 to 55. I also raised the cpu ai pitch success from 75 to 80 - felt that since I lowered the cpu pitch movement slider that their pitches were too easy to hit. I don't want to raise that slider because I felt like I was topping too many balls into the dirt. So I think the offset will be to raise their success rate.

Sorry about this - still trying to get THE BEST combination of sliders... Thanks!

MK is there a thread for up to date rosters?

Sorry don't feel like sifting through the site.

Getting the baseball itch as spring training nears. Looking forward to 13, I guess lol...

It is called Updated Rosters -- 2k12 (or something like that) and it is in the roster section.

For anyone playing along, I'm tinkering with this set. I'm finding I can hit the ball way too easily, even with cpu pitch success at 100. I'm going to lower the batting contact and power for the user and see how it plays out. I'm not striking out and am driving the ball with consistency, hitting doubles with ease and never getting less than 12-14 hits per game. I'll provide an updated set after more testing - probably will be a few days out...

For personal challenge, maybe giving the analog stick hitting some use might provide a challenge, since it's different. You obviously enjoy the challenge of tinkering, and I'd love to see what you could do with a system of figuring out when to use power vs contact, and using the LS to go away or pull appropriate pitches.

One thing that I like with using the swing stick is the check swing. when you get the CPU pitch accuracy slider just right, the ability to check your swing really makes the game come alive n the same way super low Human pitch accuracy does for pitching.

I do wish we would get more substantial info 2K13, because I suspect this slider work will transfer pretty seamlessly.

I use total control hitting and it definitely makes hitting tougher in my opinion. Such a small window for success using the power swing vs. putting the ball in play.

I have hit plenty of home runs with contact swing too. I also recommend giving it a shot. As a 34 year old, I also hate new things. But worst case scenerio, you go back to button.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

I've been working on my total uncontrolled hitting lately.

I have finally figured out why I was having so much trouble with check swings. Now don't get me wrong this is still a work in progress.

This may not be how everyone else does it but before I was always pushing all the way ahead on the stick for a contact swing and could never pull back soon enough to check my swing but since I realized you only have push a tiny bit ahead to swing it's easy pulling back.

I've also "temporarily" stopped using the left stick while hitting as I was totally screwed up trying to run two sticks BUT I plan on using both again after I retrain my brain.

Using this system though has me wondering where to set power and contact as i remember reading somewhere that using contact swing with the stick can cause weak hit types if the hit sliders aren't set correctly. Do you guys see any hrs. using contact swing and if so is it pretty much the big guys that can do this?

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

I don't play all of the games in a season. I like to watch my team grow. I'm in year 3 with the Braves. Both years I have missed the playoffs despite having a fantastic line up. My problem is the amount of runs the CPU scores when I sim. My starting pitchers end up with ERAs in the high 3's. They all have losing records. Is there a fix to this with sliders? I can live with needed a slider set for sim and a set for playing the game.

                        My rotation
                        Medlen (88)
                        Beachy (84)
                        Minor (84)
                        Bowen (80) - generated rookie
                        Teheran (80)

I should have a very solid rotation. No excuse for ending with a losing record for every pitcher.
Treat a person as he is, and he will remain as he is. Treat a person as if he were where he could be and should be, and he will become what he could be and should be.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

We may be getting way off topic, since this is MK's thread, but I use quite a bit higher power setting. I've even hit a HR with Chris Carpenter using the contact swing.

I consider contact normal, really. The only time I go to power swing is when I have a hitter's count, or with two outs, less than two strikes, no one in scoring position, and a legitimate power hitter up. For me the power swing represents comfort and the ability to zero in on one pitch.

I will try to come back and post some sliders in another thread, but I think total control hitting requires different sliders, and I don't want to turn MK's thread into a discussion n a different theory than he holds. I think classic swing is actually really well done and can be very realistic. I used it last year when the check swing broke.

And yes, I think the key is avoiding pushing the stick all the way up. I'd recommend just playing a few games and trying to pull off check swings as late as possible on every pitch. You will get feel for it, and suddenly you will find yourself pull it off in normal games.

I totally understand what you mean by the LS messing you up. I tend to use it mostly when I get the flash of an outside or inside pitch. The trick is not to let it lead to more aggressive plate discipline. that can happen to me when I do that, or set up for a power swing. In both of those cases, we should really be taking many pitches, probably better than half.

Sorry for the slight derail, MK.

I will begin the process of working with total control hitting. I think I've finally hit that weird wall where one-button classic hitting is now too easy. I can't make it any harder and I'm getting no less than 12-14 hits per game, no matter who is the starter.

Regarding the request above - the roster file we're developing is for the 360. I don't know if the PC can use it, but if it can you need to go the thread where it's being worked on - new file was just posted today at 12:25 pm.
