Regarding the request above - the roster file we're developing is for the 360. I don't know if the PC can use it, but if it can you need to go the thread where it's being worked on - new file was just posted today at 12:25 pm.

thanks mkharsh, will try it. im having a hard time looking for updated rosters for pc version. thanks again..

NEW SET POSTED - Now using TOTAL CONTROL BATTING!!!

      Details on page 1 - post 1...

Be sure to double-check your numbers, but not a whole lot changed. Taking me some time to make this adjustment, but I really think the game plays more fun. I like the ability to foul off my pitches. Still not sure how to pull off the check swing, so I'll need some guidance there.

I was losing 3-0 and played as the Orioles and had Adam Jones jack a game tying 3-run HR. Lost 4-3 in the bottom of the 9th. Both teams had 8 hits apiece, so the numbers looked good.

MK - so you finally sold out.....haha. Like you, I'm old school and use classic hitting as well. That said, if you can try out the stick hitting then this old-timer can try it too.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

I really suggest just going into a few exhibition games and try to check swing every pitch. You will start to get a sense for it.

At this point, a check swing is a reflex that occurs without thinking. It's an "oh crap" moment as I realize I am swinging at a bad pitch and yanking back on the RS. the problem is, I don't know if I can really explain the timing or method. It just kind of evolved into as normal a reaction as checking my swing in real life.

I really do think that it adds another level of immersion into batting. I will say that I miss 2K10's check swing a bit, as there were more instances of checking a swing, but getting a weak groundball out of it, foul or fair. 2K12 seems to be a miss nearly every time.

MK, are you using the LS at all, or just letting the timing do the work? I don't use the LS to aim the ball, but to produce more solid hits depending on if he ball is inside or outside. It think it also helps drive a few more pulled HR's with the contact swing, which means you can drop the power a bit.

But there is nothing sweeter than picking up on an outside pitch, moving the LS away form the batter, and getting a nice drive to the gap the other way. By the same token, there is an equally emotive feeling when you read an inside pitch, pull the LS towards the bater, but find you committed to a pitch of fthe plate, and get a strike or weak dribbler up the line.

There is also a good animation for checking a swing on an inside pitch when use the LS. Talk about tied up!

I'm not using the left stick - I think hitting a baseball is hard enough in real life, and I never like to add to my ability to place the ball where I want it. I simply use the right stick, and it's about timing, pitch type / speed / location, and when I swing. I just leave it at that... I have no intention of using the left stick. Thanks for your insights!!

One SMALL update: cpu AI Pitch Success lowered to 75 from 80. These are playing GREAT. Love the hit variety I'm seeing. Still adjusting to the right stick hitting, but I'm enjoying it. You can teach an old dog new tricks.

                  2 small updates to page 1 - post 1...

                  - lowered cpu hit power down to 80. 85 is challenging, but I don't think it's realistic. I waver on this one.

                  - lowered cpu throwing errors down to 50. Seems better and about right. Still want the occasional error...

                  For those still playing along...

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

I've played 8 games in 2K13 using these sliders in my fantasy franchise already. While I'm 7-1, many of the games have been quite close. Most of the games have been pretty high scoring, but others have been a bit lower... there's some good variety, and I've had a few great games in there.

The only change I made was that I lowered the AI pitch speed from 100 to, I believe, 75.

I've actually found that having 0 pitcher control really doesn't make a difference on most of the pitches. I had some difficulty in one or two of the games with my starters throwing strikes, but I'm going back to throwing strikes about 90% of the time... I've also had perfect games into the 5th inning in two of my games. The only time it seems like it's damn near impossible to get a strike no matter what is when I through a splitter or a curve. I can aim those down the middle or low in the zone, and they'll sail way above the plate.

The sliders are good, but I don't know how to change them to possibly make me LOSE some games, since I can't exactly make the control lower than zero.

Anyway, thanks for the sliders, Harsh. You do more work for OS than 2K Sports does on the MLB 2K series.

Would you say that user pitcher control is easier than in 2k12? I usually had pitcher control at around 25 for user in 2k12 and it seemed about right in that i'd walk cpu hitters w/o trying.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K12 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

I don't remember what my pitcher control was in 2K12, but I think I played on All-Star without any changes ... I know using that, I pretty much never walked a single batter.

In this game, it seems pretty easy to avoid walking batters, for the most part. My rotation is:

                              Kershaw
                              Dempster
                              Lester
                              Capuano
                              Haren

Kershaw never really walks anybody with 0 control, though he throws some balls. The one game I pitched with Dempster didn't go well, and Haren seems to have some trouble throwing strikes sometimes, but it's usually not too bad.

I'd throw a lot more balls and walk more guys if I didn't do a mound visit when my pitchers are "rattled".

Of course, next game I play, I get absolutely torched.

It was 10-0 in the fourth inning with no outs, so I quit, thinking the game would simulate the final half of the game ... apparently it doesn't do that, so now I know.

Seriously. 10 runs on about 13 hits and I had only gotten 9 outs. Dempster let up 6 of those runs in 2 innings. I don't know why he's so impossible to use for me -- it's as if every ball he throws is outside the zone.
