I don't think BFNJ uses the test, and has Batter's eye set to zero. I keep it at 25, so I want it on.

Turning the pitching strike zone window off does lead to more balls, and I've upped my personal Pitch Accuracy to 25 from 10. I've also gone back to pinpoint aim. The worst thing 2K does let us take off are those arrows on the cursor when we use breakpoint aim. It pretty much defeats the purpose. But with the accuracy turned down enough, even using pin point aim does not result in pinpoint accuracy.

Turning off the strike zone while pitching also eliminates the red and blue zones. So it becomes vital to use the D-Pad to bring up IE info.

If going into detail for each batter is more than one wants to do, I'd suggest leaving catcher suggestions on, but leaving them off does eliminate the one clue to where the zone is. Like last year, the AI does a good job of mixing up pitches, location, and setting up hitters to attack their weaknesses.

One thing that going without a strike zone makes me reconsider is the camera for pitching. I normally go with default, as each stadium has it's own based on its broadcast camera location. But I wonder if taking a more straight on view wil be better, or if that will make pitching too easy.
You are correct I do not use the Batter's Eye, hence why I turn the strike zone off. I also turn it off because I find it more challenging when pitching. I love the Inside Edge feature & hitting the d-pad not only let's me see Hot & Cold Zones, but it also allows me to see what pitches hitters struggle with. So in theory no matter what you need to hit the D-Pad because even if the Hot & Cold Zones came-up with the Strike Zone & IE On, you can't see what pitches batter struggle with.

If people want to turn it on, by all means do so. I'm just recommending people ue the Inside feature also. That can be with the Zones showing or accessing them via the D-Pad

Loving this set. Played my first game against the Jays - I'm the O's. Was a tad worried about the 100 power setting at first - the Jays had a dinger and I had 2 in the first 3 innings. However, there was only one more HR the rest of the game.

The box score was realistic. Jays won 8-6 on 11 hits. I had 9 hits, 3 homers, 2 doubles, and a triple. Jays starter, Brandon Morrow went 7 with 4 K's, 1 walk, and 4 earned.

My starter, Chris Tillman, went 3.2 with 4 walks and 8 earned. My bullpen shut them down the rest of the way.

I actually had 2 on with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th, but McLouth got caught looking - thought the pitch was low but ump rung him up! :-\

And, I forgot to buy the IE reports. So, had a great game with no batters eye, strike zone indicator, or IE.

Outstanding slider set so far! Although I did move up the user outfield and infield speed one notch. But, that's it.
