mine are at 20 contact and 70 power and cpu contact 45 with 75 power the games are more equal but what does composure influence do and why is it so low?

Composure influence is how easily it is for your controller to start vibrating when your pitcher gets in a jam. I have it at 20 because from my perspective as the user I find the pitchers' composure corresponding to the offensive situations pretty well at this setting.

I would suggest lowering the contact before raising fielder speed, I believe having those at 0 gives it the most realistic look and feel. The fielder speed is somewhat a cosmetic slider (like pretty much all other "speed" sliders), whereas the Batting contact slider is adjustable for difficulty.

            Hey everyone,

Anyone who has seen the recent updates may be wondering why the Batting Power sliders have been reduced by 40 points...well after much gameplay tuning, it finally hit me that the Power sliders describe how hard the ball is hit (how fast it comes off the bat), rather than the distance. The distance and quality part lies mainly with Contact, making Batting Contact the primary hit slider you need to worry about. I'm trying to find the sweet spot for how fast the ball travels off the bat, because this is really proving to be a relatively cosmetic slider, and not at all like what many of us probably thought.

I have updated the front page big time with my likely final set for this game (at last)! Also you will see explanations for many of the sliders, since on paper and compared to many other sets out there they are quite a bit different in areas, but I urge people to try them out first.

Also note the changes on the page that I use Classic Batting and Pitching (but Total Control should still work fine.) I also used Auto Fielding and Running to create this set, because it was just easier when I had more evidence to work with (observing twice as much effect of my slider changes.)

Feedback is appreciated more than ever!

I'll try these later on today. I've been pretty set on my Shogun sliders but always open to suggestion.

I like your descriptions and thought process on the first page. Got a few things to to and then I'll check them out tonight and give a few impressions if I can get back on.

Thank you so much, shogun! I greatly look forward to hearing what you have found! And I know these are a bit unconventional when you compare to the other sets out there but I think you will like them.

Just home now. Had a dozen beers and gonna check out some sliders, unless I decide to continue updating my Ken Griffey Baseball Snes rom to the 2013 rosters......I started and I'm hooked!!!!, anyway, hoping my 32 ounce draft brings me to test some quick games. I'll let you know in about 20 where the beer brought me

Here is a vid of a few web gems from the game.

Overall I liked the sliders. The defense was silky smooth. I think the timing was good with the runners and putouts, etc.

Pitchers covered first in time (as a former college pitcher it drives me nuts when games don't get that right).

Outfield coverage / infield coverage was good.

I however, only had 1 hit. I struck out a ton. Not like me but maybe just need to get used to sliders.

I was throwing legit with Lester to start. Had 7 k's in 3 innings. Then I started throwing half power throws to watch the defense play.

At least one should have been hit out or at least to the warning track. Nothing was deeper from either team than standard depth outfield (as a former pitcher, I HATE homeruns, but they are a necessary evil).

Going to try another game in a bit, but need to top of my beer and then finish the attributes for the A's in Griffey. But will be back for these.

Lots I really liked. Good theory's. Lots of great sliders options out there, which, is what it is all about.

Thank you so much for the comments! I'm glad you're finding the gameplay smoother, which for me makes the game more realistic itself in look and outcome. I have also noticed with these how offensive production is definitely hard to come by with these, and I really don't want to increase Batting Contact for either side, but I may have to. Or I may continue to experiment further with the Batting Power slider, even though having it at 0 with Contact at 45 makes the ball move so realistically. Despite this, I may have to sacrifice the cosmetic for the numbers, though ideally these should work hand in hand.

Let me know if any of your games go differently!

Okay so here's how it went for me. I was the Royals playing the White Sox and it was Shields vs. Sale. Now, in this game with Sale, I tend to be very impatient with him as he likes to go up 0-2 on me almost everytime, so I decided to be overly aggressive cause I can't stand it when he does that haha. THIS GAME LASTED 19 INNINGS! I even traded Hosmer and Guthrie for Giancarlo Stanton to get a big bat in my lineup, and still he went 0-8. I was getting desperate in the end and hit a lot of pop fly's. They used Sale 110 pitches, which his max pitch count is 96 so he ended up injuring himself, but man that was the longest game I have ever played. I mean I have great contact hitters, speedy guys, then my big bat in Stanton, but nothing was going and it was a huge pitcher's duel all the way through. At one point, Konerko had a home run in lock until Cain robbed him in extra innings. I had a situation where I had a runner on 1st and 3rd with no outs in extra innings, and got out of it. Eventually they had a good hitting frenzy going and I couldn't stop it. But I was hitting so often that Sale lasted 12 innings when really they should have pulled him at 9. I hope it's not a crazy outlier game, but just as a 1st I think I should change contact possibly, but I'm not sure. Also I am usually patient with pitchers, but Sale to me just likes to throw strikes so I'm gonna swing as much as possible with all the good contact, speedy hitters I have.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I was also getting too many games with an unrealistic tendency to throw strikes, giving a distinct pitcher's advantage. I have made changes, however, that decrease Strike Zone Tendency and Pitcher Control and hopefully have fixed the problem, and my games are going much better. I do not recommend raising contact, however, because as soon as I hit 50 (with Power at 0 even), the ball moved unnaturally fast and without any realism.

V23 is now up and I'm very excited about these! Found out that Batting Contact affects how realistic the ball movement looks as well. Batting Power can never go higher than 25 for a realistic look and feel. Pitcher Control at 50 feels fair and with Pitch Success at 0 and Strike Zone Tendency at 65 I am getting awesome results and balanced gameplay from the pitching side of things. Fixed some major issues with running, didn't realize how slow 20 really made baserunners look...now at 35 should look better. Also 45 for Catcher Arm Strength looks much more accurate.
