Re: BIGFNJOE'S Pure Baseball Custom Sliders FINAL VERSION
I just played one game and had zero passed balls the whole game. At one point I had bases loaded and there still was zero passed balls. I won the game 4-3. It seemed to play very well with a better variety of hits. I'm digging these sliders after one game.Comment

Re: BIGFNJOE'S Pure Baseball Custom Sliders FINAL VERSION
Sorry Joe, no stats, but I have used them... overall very good... my only complaint is that I can't seem to steal a base... I've been getting thrown out with a nice lead and a A+ speed runner. I know that in about 4 games, I've been thrown out 4 or 5 times.Comment

Re: BIGFNJOE'S Pure Baseball Custom Sliders FINAL VERSION
Originally posted by bigfnjoe96Glad your liking them. Don't be afraid to tweak any of the sliders to play to your style. Next game post some stats if you could.
So here they are (with some of my logic behind why I made the changes I did):
HUMAN SETTINGS
Batter Contact - 60
Batter Power - 60
(good balance between power and contact... you nailed it)
Batter Slamzone Power - 0
Batter Bunt Assistance - 100
Runner Baserunning Speed - 50
(changed this because it appears runner speeds reflect "real life" better, I get many more close plays at first with speedy runners)
Runner Stealing Success - 65
Fielder Errors - 50
Fielder Speed - 50
(again this default setting appears to reflect real life speeds of fielders)
Fielder Speed Burst Length - 30
Fielder Speed Burst Power - 25
(Legend settings, and I like it, I tend to disagree with those who think speed burst isn't realistic, you're simply simulating your fielder "getting on his horse" to try to hustle to make a play... and this setting seems fairly reasonable)
Pitching Variability - 100
Pitcher Fatigue - 50
(appears this is another "default" setting... starting pitchers start to get tired in the late 5th early 6th inning, but high stamina pitvhers can squeak out an extra inning ot two)
Pitcher Interface Speed - 85
Injuries - 20
(still working with this one... 10 seems a little low, and I actually did get one injury set here, but I need to see how it impacts Season play first)
Pitch Speed - 75
CPU SLIDERS
AI Skill - 100
(you are right about this one, it needs to be set at this level or the AI never gets enough hits)
AI Contact - 65
AI Power - 54
(had to lower these a little, after my first three games with the original settings the AI was just hitting with way too much power... these settings strike a good balance for me)
AI Slamzone Probability - 0
AI Slamzone Power - 0
AI Fatigue - 50
(like the Human setting this appears to be a default fatigue setting)
AI Take Strike Overall - 80
AI Take Strike Ahead - 50
AI Take Strike Behind - 80
(perfection! You completely nailed it with these settings, in your earlier version I thought the AI took too many strikes, but this was perfect... AI averages about 2-3 called strikeouts a game... against average control pitchers this tends to go down to 1-2, but with high control guys you see as many as 4... just great!)
AI Take Ball Overall - 55
AI Take Ball Ahead - 65
AI Take Ball Behind - 60
(again perfection! great job Joe!)
AI Aggressiveness - 75
AI Steal Second - 60
AI Steal Third - 55
AI Steal Home - 40
(again, lights out! The perfect setting for steals!)
AI Corner - 90
AI Change Speed - 90
AI Change Location - 90
(Again joe, your settings just added to the complete baseball feel of the game... I had some serious chess matches between my batters and the AI pitcher... well done!)
AI throw Strike Overall - 40
AI Throw Strike Ahead - 40
AI Throw Strike Behind - 45
AI Pickoff - 30
AI Pitchout - 65
AI Errors - 50
AI Fielder Speed - 50
(default fielder speed like the human settings)
AI Fielding Aggression - 30
(I cranked this one up from your original setting of 10 because I felt AI fielders were having a very difficult time fielding slow rollers near the pitcher. In a couple of early games set at 10 the pitcher would move toward the ball, but never pick it up. Then the 1B would grab the ball, but because the pitcher tried for the grab no one was covering first. I moved the slider up to 30 and that issue seemed to go away... a couple of wonky plays still, and this may be one of those "default 50 sliders". I'll report back after a few games.
AI Throwing aggression - 30
(again I think 30 is a little low... still testing)
AI Hit & Run - 75
AI Sac Bunt - 50
AI Squeeze - 40
AI Meat Pitch - 40
AI Showboat Attempt - 0
AI Showboat Skill - 0
GAME OPTION
Game Style- Pure Baseball
Slamzone- OFF
Showboat Catches- OFF
Pop Fly Lock- ON
Ball Indicator- Dynamic
Baserunner Speed Boost- ON
Fielder Speed Boost- ON
Broken Bat Frequency- Sometimes
Using Classic pitching without the cursor with vibration on.
So those are the settings I've been using. Again Joe, just some amazing work on the sliders, I love them!
Some of my results:
D-Backs 4
Orioles 5
The Birds had 9 hits, with two homers (including a back breaking 2 run homer in the top of the 8th as my reliever gave up a fat pitch down the middle of the plate... I was trying to paint a corner). Meanwhile, I had 9 hits, including two doubles in the outfield gaps. Glaus hit a three run homer early in the game.
Orioles commited one error on an overthrow to 1st base. The Birds also managed a steal against me, and I caught one of their other runners trying for second... Great game!
D-Backs 1
Orioles 6
This was a bad game for me. I gave up 12 hits, including a 3 run whopper to Sammy Sosa (damn Russ Ortiz). Meanwhile I had 11 hits, but for the life of me could not bring runners in.
Ponson lit me up for 6 Ks... meanwhile Ortiz could not find the plate... grrr
D-backs 7
Orioles 2
Now I dominated this game. My hitters were on, and Vazquez pitched like a stud. I had 12 hits including two homers (1 from Glaus, 1 from Green), was able to steal a base with Royce Clayton.
Vazquez only gave up 1 run early on, then pitched lights out the next four innings (including 6 Ks). Had to pull him the eigth when he put men on 1st and 2nd.
Overall, I'm really happy with the play, and stats I'm seeing with these tweaks... anyway, again Joe, I bow to you and dub you official MLB2K5 Slider Guru!

Re: BIGFNJOE'S Pure Baseball Custom Sliders FINAL VERSION
Gallandro, I've played 6 games with Human Error @ 25. No pass balls. Less errors then before. Test it out for yourself. Also I've been testing AI Take Strikes Overall & Behind @ 70. This seems to give a good balance of called 3rd strikes. By the way your slider set looks great. I will test them & let you know what happens. Probably tommorow night though. Good Job & great observation of the 50(default seeting) by the way would you mine If I posted these on the 2Ksports website. So can get more people to try them out?Last edited by bigfnjoe96; 03-07-2005, 12:03 AM.Comment
