Well, that's up to you. If you like MVP on the console and want to take it on the road, then yes I'd get it.

I don't dislike MLB, but it's just not for me. The passed balls, rocket arms, no homerun trots, etc.. I like it much better on the ps2. MVP is basically the same as the console, but for me Pro is magnificent out of the box, very challenging. I'm serious when I say that after only a few games, I'm seeing a lot of hits I haven't seen before - I'm assuming it's because the OF's are huge and nicely porportioned to the players. Maybe the best I've seen thus far.

Actually, playing the field on "zoom" is much better than aerial.. it only zooms at the last minute, which makes a difference with the small screen - but I still have it back on assisted as want my fielders to play like their ratings. I'm telling you, default Pro.. much harder - could just be me getting used to the game, but I'm really liking the more variety of hits due to the huge outfields - I really think it's portrayed perfectly.. from playing in Kansas City to Houston, etc.. outfield dimensions do matter.

I assume I'll get better, but I don't think I'll need the pitching meter on -50 like the console version, pitching from btp is damn hard, and well, that's a good thing. There are slowdowns here and there but so far, nothing that has impacted gameplay - mainly transitioning from out to batter walkup animation.

I haven't checked out season mode yet, but I've heard there is no reserves.. so maybe no injuries - which, without a franchise mode is no biggie to me. The game feels and plays like MVP.

there is injuries and suspensions which surprised me due to the limited roster of each team. but that is what free agents are for

one thing else that I noticed was there are very few free agents available, my guess is 35-40 including just a handful of outfielders and infielders, and 2 catchers. I am not trying to continue to bash the season mode, but instead of the videos in the pockets trax why not add a few more players. It's not like they get a chance next year to add all this stuff......Wait a minute, maybe that is why they didn't bother.

Thanks for all the answers, but I've got one more question

Does it have auto replays? Or do you have to manually replay like MLB?

It has auto replays, exactly like the console version.

              My impressions so far.....

I am pleased for the most part, since all I was expecting is a fun game of baseball that I can take with me anywhere I want. As long as it would play about the same as the console version, I knew I would be happy. That being said, upon analyzing it a little bit, there are a few things that I wish would have been handled differently.

For one, the PSP version is more or less a direct port of MVP 2004, last year's game. It really isn't a big deal, since it isn't all that different from MVP 2005, and there is no lefty bug here, but after playing 2005 the last few months, it just seems like a step down. I keep expecting to see things like the pitcher covering 1st base and what not, but really, I can't bitch because it still plays good and it is on a handheld.

Other than that, there isn't a lot I can find to really gripe about. The framerate does chug on occasion (on any cutscene and on hit balls and throws across the diamond with men on base-just like console versions of 2004), and the speed of hit balls could be better. Even when you get really good wood on a pitch, it doesn't feel as satisfying as it does in the console version, but it is far from intolerable. The rosters still being so out of date is inexcusable, imo, especially considering how many times the game was pushed back.

All in all, though, I am happy with the way the game turned out. I know I will have a lot of fun with it playing seasons at work.

I don't know why they bothered but did anyone else notice the minor league baseball logo on the cover and was hoping maybe that they threw a few of the top 100 prospects in?

I've only played 5 quick start games, but so far I prefer MLB much, much better.

anyone else notice that they left out the pitching control and pitch meter difficulty sliders and i think another couple of sliders....yeah i also got excited when i saw the minor league icon...im a little pissed off they didnt give us that when they charged 50 bucks for it when the xbox version was 29 bucks....but its better than mlb to me because of little things like the meter in the field. insted of automatic throws going to every base, in mvp u have to really watch that meter and rely on the stats of the outfielders throwing accuracy and everything. all in all, it pretty much has everything except the dynasty mode. which wouldve made this game playable to me for 50 years...now one season and then the exact same schedule each year kind of sucks...i def recommend it to everyone if they like the console versions gameplay.

LOL perhaps I should have worded it differently. The pitcher will cover 1st, but you can't throw to him until he gets to the bag, so the process is pretty jerky. I loved how they changed that in the console version this year so that you can throw to the pitcher while he is on his way to the base, making it a lot smoother.

Extremely jerky. The entire game is if you ask me. If you want smooth, realistic baseball go with MLB.

MVP is going back. EA had more time, more money, they sell it for more and still the competition is better!!! I'm glad they didn't buy the MLB license too.

I totally agree. This game is so choppy and freezes for a couple seconds between every play.
I can't believe I'm going to go back and trade this game back in for MLB, the game I traded in to get MVP. I just can't take it.
So, I spent 40 on MLB, got 20 back.Spent 50 on MVP, I wonder how much I'll get. Most likely 30 bucks if that. Then I'll have to spend another 10 to get MLB back. Which means I'll be paying 50-60 dollars for MLB and 2 days of MVP.
I'm so glad blockbuster just started rented psp games nationwide so I don't have to go through this again.

This is because it's a 2004 port, with the lefty hr bug fixed. I'm a little pissed, but I still like it over MLB. The pitching and hitting alone is more to my tastes.. but yeah, for $50 friggin bucks they could have ported the 2005 version. Leave it up to EA.

It seems like another rushed title from EA. Even though they pushed the release date back many times. I only wish they could release a patch and fix the choppiness like on the PC version.
