It seems almost ANYTIME I go inside they always smack the hell out of the ball if they are a decent hitter.

One general question about the game: Hot and Cold zones; What are their ACTUAL effects on hitters. Like if I'm going against a hitter with like the whole outter half of the plate in red, I am basically screwed. If I go outside it's in their hot zone and if I go inside it's in the natural "inside pitch that the CPU always seems to jack" zone.
I also have trouble giving up too many homers. I do just about everything, i work the cold zones, go inside, outside, up, down but still too many mediocre hitters punish my mistakes for home runs. I was givng up about 3-4 homers a game and the AI was scoring the majority of their runs off homers. So I dropped teh AI power slider to -50. At this I noticed that only the real home run hitters will hurt if you if you make a mistake which is more realistic and more often now the AI is putting together innings when they get 5 to 6 hits and score their runs off singles, doubles etc...

Yea I knocked the CPU Power down a lot and I've noticed them playing more small ball and getting realistic homerun amounts per game/series.

My only problem now is that John Smoltz went from a Cy Young season to a 4-10 season

Replaced em for a while with a nice rookie but I hate losing Smoltzy.

      I still love these sliders.

sometimes it seems like team chemistry is dragging you down. i also have a problem hitting HRs. i replayed 2005 and ortiz only hit 15 for me. i had 25 with bay and about 26 with wright. (fantasy draft). anyway, you need to pull up and it for lefties. also, maybe you are too slow. the best pitches to hit are hanging sliders and fastballs. if you can't get around then you will never hit one. check the swing analysis. if you are always late reduce pitch speed.

I notice that it is near impossible to make contact with the pitch outside the strike zone. The hitters eye color is also VERY hard to see at least on my screen. Overall MVP 2005 is a fine game with many positives but I am not sold on the hitting. I am not going to give up just yet but it has been very hard to find the right hitting sliders on ALL STAR level. Everything else is fine though. I want to be able to hit home runs without having to aim up and in everytime. With other swings it seems hard to hit home runs with power at 0. I do not want to increase the power too much because then it becomes too easy to hit home runs aiming up and in.

Great sliders, but I just started a M's dynasty and everythings whack, they nail every pitch,66 pitches after 8 inninigs
note before these worked perfectly, but all of a sudden they're going nuts

I have been using these sliders for some time and I love them. The one thing that I have a problem with is the stealing ability that I have. I lead the league with 22 total team steals this season. The next team has about 9. I only steal with the fastest guys. Does anyone have any steal settings that seem to challenge you?

To the person who was talking about HR's and not having to aim up and in everytime.

In my Braves dynasty, Adam LaRoche has gotten numerous homeruns down the line by just pulling the analog stick to the right.

I've also had a few homeruns like that with others. It really all comes down to the pitch you hit. I mean you cant expect to pull a homerun down the line using just analog stick left/right if the ball is at your knees. It needs to be between the belt and letters to have an easier time with it.

                  Hi Jistic...

I'm playing on 'Pro', but have used your sliders as a base to work from...

You have slider posts in this thread numbered 52, 205, and 225...

                  Which are you still using?

Is there a 'consensus' favorite among the other participants in this thread?

I'm leaning tword #225...I find that -10 to -15 on pitch speed makes the ptichers throw at the speeds that their scouting reports in the Sporting News 2006 Guide report...

It also give me a better chance at hitting...lol...

Thanks for all these great slider sets!!!

I'm using the latest post with a few personal tweaks. Basically you just have to use someone's sliders as a base and edit a little to find out what fits you best. If you are really good with the hitter's eye and hitting in general knock down your contact and power a little bit.

Only pitches I have problems with is when a pitcher has a 90+ mph sinker and a low-mid 80's forkball since they both show up pink with hitter's eye.

Then it comes down to matching situations with pitch guessing.

Alburt Pujols 106 games. 42 home runs.
Derek Lee 112 games. 42 home runs.

Also I have peavy, morris, gagne by order 1st-3rd in cy young race also 1st-2nd in mvp race for lee and pujols. Anyone else getting similiar numbers for home runs. This is outragous. Season is not over yet. I still have almost 2 months of baseball left.

i am using the v3 of these sliders and i love them, the only problem i seem to be having is im plaiyng in owner mode, and i usually sim quite a few games, or sim then jump in the 7th if its close etc...the problem im having is the scores are insanely high, like almost every game there is a 4-5 run inning by one team, i have only had a few games were combined runs < 6, usually its over 10, and its not uncommon to be over 20. However i do enjoy the sliders when im actually playing, so is there anyway i can get them to tone down the scoring but still have the same gameplay feel?
                        thanks for the hard work
to give some examples, i just got the ASB
theres 15 guys hitting .340 or above, over 30 htting .330 or above, and the 11 guys w/over 70 runs scored, oddly enough the HRs do not seem to be a problem, a little high but not as high as the other problem, is it possible i need to either make cpu pitching better or cpu contact worse?
lol just to throw this in, more strangeness, ichiro is NOT one of the 60 people or hitting above .300, despite his 98/99 contact ratings lol

I don't think that is too bad. pujols could have hit 60 this year and maybe lee if they did not get hurt.

I have lee (using 15/40) as my hitting sliders. he has .305 ba 35 hrs, 90 rbis at 100 games. i am guessing he will end up with 50 hrs and 150 rbis. this would be possible right (if pierre could get on base).

Does anyone know if sliders affect simulated stats at all. Meaning if I'm in my dynasty and I have Batting power down to -30, will it give me different stats than power at 40? Just wondering what affect this had. Thanks.

Sliders have no effect on simulated games. Only the player ratings do.

just played my FIRSTEVER complete game on ALL star using YOUR sliders. not the prettiest game ive ever played, i struck out 22 times but i did get 14 walks which led to my win in the game. of course as always every run the computer scored, was off the long ball, cant seem to stop that lol. but i thnk that im now after two seasons on pro, ready to make the leap to all star with the use of your sliders. ive used your sliders before on pro and had some fun using them but this was my first real attempt using them on all star.

if i can just put down the controll3er until there are two strikes against me and be MUCH more selective and careful at that point and not try to do too much when runners are on i should be ok... so im now an ALL STAR player wooooooo hooooooo. who knows i may not even win the division this season due to this decision to go here lol.. thaks jistic..
