Re: Jistics 2005 MVP All-Star Sliders

I just walked 4 batters in an inning

This is beautiful. Joel Pineiro gave up 5 runs in the 1st inning while walking 4. That's the first time I've ever had a really horrible inning. Looking good, man.

I am definately trying these sliders tonight, they look like they are dead on for my hitting needs.

One question though, how is the computer power with it being set so low?

The computer still hits plenty of dingers. Hit back-to-back against my tired starter yesterday (needless to say he hit the showers!)

I finally got the chance to pay with Jistic's slider's last night, and was very happy with the results.

The first game was a learning curve.

After that, games 2 & 3 were right on.

I was the Phillies playing the Dodgers. Lost game 2(5-2) Won game 3(3-1)

Players seemed to play well to their attributes as well. Odalis, their pitcher, couldn't hit or bunt. And I struck him out most of the time.

Ok this is a pretty major change from my last set. Took a while to test out. The MAJOR things involved in this is hitting, baserunning, and fielding. I've tuned the speeds. Ever see those games on Sportscenter that happen every night where a team scores 10+ runs on like 15 hits? I never seemed to get those at all. Now I do. Not every game mind you, this isn't Slugfest, but the pitching...actualy the defense was too fast. Also I've lowered the pitch speed which allows the Human player to be more patient...and be rewarded for it. Great pitchers will stil be great, however you should now be able to have games where you put up some major offensive numbers...the CPU should too. Not every game should be filled with web gems, just here and there. This just take a lot of the frustration out from playing on All-Star, at least I hope so any way.

Hey thanks for all your work, I've been playing using Pareds and it was kind of frustrating for me as i am not a patient hitter and swing darn nearly at everything in some games, But I used your sliders above in a game Cardinals Mulder vs Mets Martinez, but it was arcade like, no disrespect but I had 15 runs on 17 hits in the 5th inning I knocked Mulder out of the box in the first with 6 runs. Pedro gave up 3 runs and 7 hits by the 5th as well. What I did do after that was just cut everyone of your sliders in Half using the same two pitchers and found I got more realistic results, 3-1 game with me having about 7 hits and computer having 6. I think maybe its just time for me to move up to MVP level? I'm going to try your originals again today, I did have a couple of beers in me last night when i roughed up the computer maybe like steroids they help my hitting LOL. Thanks again for your sliders tho, I'm trying out everyones until I can come to a happy medium

Just a suggestion: If things seem too easy, try the sliders with the hitters eye off. IMO it's unrealistic to be tipped off when a changeup is coming (the whole idea of a change is it looks like a fastball based on arm speed and delivery) It makes hitting too easy. I find turning off the eye levels the playing field a bit and results in very realistic box scores

I do not know if anybody has noticed this, but when using you're sliders Jistic, there is a problem with the amount of balls and strikes thrown by the pitcher. I tested this in three straight games using the Mets and the computer using the Twins with Santana. If I just put the controller on the floor and let Santana pitch he will walk at least two batters an inning. The batters he strikes out go to 3-2, 2-2 counts before they go down. Should the ball rate be lowered to maybe nine or should the computer ball control be raised to -45 or higher? Any input would be greatly appreciated by those who have used these sliders or made them (Jistic).

I've noticed a few "interesting" issues with Jistic's sliders. All in all, a great set, and thanks for the hard work Jistic.

-- Am I getting "too" good at this game at All-Star mode, or does that fact that each and everyone of my regulars (as the "hated" Yanks) after 75 games in Franchise Mode Season 1, has at least 18 home runs each seem a little odd? Even "light hitting" Tony Womack has 18 HR's after 75 games. After 75 Games, I'm 54-21.

-- The computer can't hit for squat. I usually pitch around hitters, especially the good ones, but I NEVER walk anyone. After 75 games, my ENTIRE pitching staff has given up only 20 walks. You would think that me throwing that many strikes would lead to some big hits, innings and games for the CPU, but they are SO few and far between. My team ERA on the season is 2.71. The next closest is 3.75.

-- I truly believe that the "Hitters Eye" makes hitting in this game WAY too easy. For me anyway.

Don't get me wrong....I've been blown out. A few times (mostly by the Red Sox And I've had my share of close games, but are the Yanks THAT good in this game? Perhaps I should try playing as a middle of the pack team (Orioles, Padres, Dodgers, etc).

Anyway, thanks for listening, and Jistic, thanks again for the sliders. I've been using ALL of your sliders for ALL games since 2003, and I love each and every set. Keep up the good work, and take care.

                        Fellas,

Hi everyone. Recent convert from 2K5 and I love this game. I've been playing with the version 3.0 sliders for around 12 games and have seen exactly 2 CPU batters swing at a pitch out of the strike zone.. Is this an isolated case or is this how things are?

Could someone share with me a realistic slider setting that may be a more realistic option as I find this extremely unrealistic.

I've been using Jistics sliders with good results. Changed a few of the sliders to suit my skill level.

                          Pitching Meter > -40
Runners speed > +13 ( both for me and CPU )
Errors > +40 ( both for me and CPU ) I play with assisted fielding.

I walk between 1-5 batters a game. The pitching meter is set for my skill level not someone else's. Eventually I might go to -50 if I get to good at it.

You can get the CPU batters to swing at balls if you set the batters up. Sometimes I'll throw a ball on purpose just off the plate, but hit the pitching meter dead center, and the CPU will hack at it. Just remember to mix up your pitches to keep the batter off balance. Don't always throw strikes either, because the CPU will catch on and swing at most of your pitches. I get quite a few called 3rd strikes because of this.

Has anyone changed the steal sliders a little bit? There almost perfect but...

I'll keep them the same for a little while to see if there is a change, but I'm throwing guys out too easy lately.

I'm the Phillies by the way, with Mike Lieberthal as my catcher. He is only average, and should not be throwing everyone out.

But like I said, it could be that I got a little lucky the last several games, but I'm just wondering if anyone else had to change these.

I've lowered the User throw accuracy a little bit. It helps not just with stealing, but with all throws in general. I want some bad throws from my fielders to make it more realistic. Nothing like seeing Womack toss one in the stands. lol

You can also lower the CPU Steal Delay so they'll get a better jump on your pitcher.
