The Mets had to make this move. Roberto Hernandez has been the Mets best reliever...but he's 40 years old!, he has already pitched in 26 games and is on pace for well over 80 appearences. Graves will give them another solid arm in the pen so that maybe they will not have to use Hernandez so much.

The N.L East is only seperated by 2.5 games from 1st to last, these are the moves that may help a team pull away.
Agree 100%. Graves has not been happy for quite some time there. Also, you can't go wrong if the Braves think a pitcher is worth pursuing (well, excluding Dan Kolb )

The bullpens in the NL East are pretty bad on the whole. The Mets are fortunate to get a reliever with SOME experience.

Nice pickup by the Mets, even though I was hoping the Braves would sign him..

If he would've signed w/ Atlanta, I wonder if Mazzone could've helped him regain his stuff and confidence.

It's not gonna happen. Especially not in NY.

Part of me seriously wonders if Graves pulled a Carl Pickens. You know, run your mouth, do some other things that will force them to get rid of you (i.e. play like garbage and flick off a fan, although the guy deserved it), just like good ole cancer-in-the-clubhouse boy, Pick, did with the Bengals.

Actually that was his second outing. the first outing was his first 1-2-3 inning since the All-Star break of last year. This was his second as a Met. Looks like vintage Graves to us Reds fans.

But hey, it set up a save for Looper.

Not to defend the guy, but apparently someone botched a double-play ball and didn't get an error for it. Grant it, he still should have gotten the outs. Seen it one too many times over the years where he has to make it exciting at the end of the game.
