Are you guys saying that Horatio shouldn't throw at Erstad new to liking baseball. If one of your guys gets layed out you throw at whoever did it. Stick up for your teammates, show some comrodary (sp).

How is that sticking up for your teammates?

Something happens thats a complete accident so you do something intentional in return? I don't think thats right at all.

Its called Payback. Cause and effect. He did something and he faced the consequences for it. You didn't see the Mets throw at Clemens a couple of years ago?

I agree, I'm sure Erstad wasn't trying to hurt Estrada but he did wind up hurting him, nice to see Ramirez throw back at him (and as was mentioned he didn't hit him, just sent a message), thats part of the game that goes way back so can't complain about it, both the tackle of Estrada and then the throw at Erstad were parts of the game.

What Ramirez did today, in my view wasn't "payback" or wasn't sending a message to Erstad. He threw a soft pitch behind Erstad like that is going to scare anyone.

What Erstad did wasn't a complete accident. He didn't accidently level Estrada at full speed.

After looking at those picutes again, I don't think he would have been safe on a hook slide. Estrada was already headed in the direction of a tag, which was the reason he got hit so hard. If Erstad would have slid it would have been a much closer play that it was. He was faced with a decision, and in the interest of winning the ball game, I think he made the right one.

What I mean is that he didn't intentionally mean for Estrada to get hurt. Obviously him making contact wasn't accidental.

Still, it's part of the "unspoken rules"... You injure one of my teammates, especially in a situation where it's very open to interpretation as to whether it was clean or not, you're still getting something coming your way. It's just the way it is. I would be surprised if Erstad wasn't expecting some kind of payback.

I didn't see the replay, but a lot of Braves fans here are saying what Ramirez did was soft, throwing a 70 mph off speed pitch behind Erstad instead of putting one in his ribs.

And Ramirez didn't intentionally try to hurt Erstad. He intentionally threw behind Erstad so he wouldn't actually get hit, just get sent a message.

Are White Sox fans still sour about that? (not saying you are, just in general)
