Pedro's '99 and '00 seasons rank as 2 of the best seasons ever. He is one of my all-time favorite Sox players and is probably the best pitcher I will ever see. The Mets are lucky to have a pitcher of his caliber, even if it is towards the end of his career. I think most people would be hard pressed to name 5 pitchers they'd rather have over Pedro Martinez.
Why are Carlos Beltran's SB numbers down?

Originally posted by Chaos81I don't think he'll have the kind of SB numbers he did in KC regardless of how he feels. You have to think, in KC, he was either the leadoff or number two hitter. A number three hitter won't get as many chances to steal in the first place.I think he should bat 2nd like he did in Houston. He was a terror at the end of the year and in the playoffs. Looking at their lineup though they might not have anyone else to bat 3rd or fourth if he isnt there. It would be a waste to neglect his SB abilty.

Cameron, Beltran, Floyd, Piazza, Wright, Reyes, Mientkewskiwich, Matsui...
I'd even consider swapping Wright and Piazza. David Wright kicks ***.Comment

Originally posted by dce1228Beltran seems like a tough guy to dislike, even if he is struggling. What I want to know is how much Met fans love Pedro?
I have always liked him and I thought (and obviously still think) the Mets got the best available pitcher on the market this year. Did we over pay? Maybe. But it was one of the best FA pick ups the Mets EVER made.Comment
