29.2 innings this year
16 hits, 3 earned runs
32 K's, granted a high walk total of 11.
0.91 ERA.
If it wasn't for that HR Varitek hit in the season opener he would have insane stats.Comment

Originally posted by camulosAfter listening to Foulke on the Dale and Holley show today, I'm convinced there's something going on behind the scenes. It really sounds like Foulke is having some sort of personal or health issue that is affecting his performance. Holley said he expects something to come out in the next week or so.
I heard a few comments made about his discussion on a radio show in some thread on SoSH, what exactly was said?“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. We’re talking about on the biggest stage, in New York, playing out of position and asked to hit fourth for the New York Yankees. I mean, that’s never been done.” - Sheffield on SheffieldComment

He also said something along the lines of, "The fans don't consider whats happening in players personal lives." It sounded like he was going to elaborate further but stopped.

Why is Foulke getting the Burger King nickname now? I don't know if it's something I'm missing cause I am out of the loop in Boston or just something I failed to read.
EDIT: Well now I understand where the Burger King comment comes fromLast edited by Thrasha; 07-01-2005, 02:17 PM.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. It was a bad joke that got blown out of proportion by the Boston media because they're pissed at Foulke for not talking to them recently. Typical Boston media BS.Comment

Yeah, I heard him explain the joke, didn't seem that bad.
Is Keith always this...testy in interviews? or is that just his personality with the media?
I've never heard Keith give an interview so I don't know if that's just his personality or if he's been in a bad mood now.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. I'm actually glad it hasn't, because I think family issues are one place that the bloodhound media thankfully doesn't interfere with (in potentially damaging situations of course). I can just picture this story getting more attention by Foulke's ex-wife making the talk radio show rounds followed by her tell all sit down interview with Stu Scott on Sportscenter. Makes me nauseous to think about it.Comment

Re: Boston Redsox and Keith Foulke
well that wasn't nice
It seems like a stint on the DL and a trip back to Alabama would do Keith some good.
After that, maybe a few appearences in Pawtucket to get some of his confidence back.
In the meantime I'm not sure what will happen, I'll take a look at our schedule, but we could maybe work on a 4 man rotation an put Arroyo in the pen.
I don't know if Timlin would be moved to closer or keep him where he's been pretty effective at and make Bronson the interim closer.
Either way something needs to be done. We can't keep blowing these games if we want to win the division or even make the playoffs.
It seems as though alot of people on SoSH are full on panic mode, I'm not their yet. Trading Keith will bring us nothing at this point in time, and I don't believe he's done by any means.
Nor would I say rape the farm for a temporary solution, unless we can get (a) Guardado for cheap.“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. Re: Boston Redsox and Keith Foulke
I agree with everything that you said. Put him on the 15 day DL so he can go to Alabama, and whatever is bothering him physically can hopefully treated. After the 15 days send him to Pawtucket for roughly a week and hopefully he can string together some 1-2-3 innings so he can get better mentally.Boston Red Sox l New England Patriots l Boston Celtics l Massachusetts Minutemen l Boston College EaglesComment

Re: Boston Redsox and Keith Foulke
This is how things would shake out if we moved Foulke to the DL, and Arroyo to the pen effective immediately:
7/5: Wake pitches
7/6: Clement pitches (4 days rest, as everyone else would be on seeing as we have no off days until the All Star break)
7/7: Wells
7/8: Miller
7/9: Wake
7/10: Schilling/Clement, Curt's last rehab start might have to be for the Red Sox seeing as though we are in a tight spot and don't have a whole lot to lose (worst case: Curt pushes it and re-injures himself being brought along too quickly. Although I doubt that would actually happen.)“Nobody in the history of the game tried what I just tried. Re: Boston Redsox and Keith Foulke
At this point the Red Sox are correct in taking a wait and see approach with Foulke. There's nothing they can do. They're not going to put him on the DL unless he's legitimately hurt. The trade market isn't active enough for them to make a good deal without overpaying. You can't move Timlin into the closer role because then you don't have a setup man. You can't call up somebody from the minors to close because that's just not realistic.
Foulke needs to straighten himself out. If he doesn't in the next 2 weeks the Red Sox are guaranteed to make a trade. While it's annoying to be losing games like this, we are still in pretty good shape.Comment
