I think the White Sox are clearly a contending team but winning in the regular season and winning in the playoffs are completely different things. I've seen a lot of White Sox fans on here (not all) gloating about how their team has the most wins in baseball and isn't getting the respect they deserve.

Wins during the regular season seem to have very little to do with who wins the WS. The last 3 WS champs have been wild card teams. The last team to lead MLB in wins and win the WS is the 1998 Yankees.

Due to their great starting pitching, the White Sox seem to have the makeup of a team that could compete in the postseason but their lack of experience and unproven ability to hit good pitching makes me favor teams like the Yankees, Red Sox and Angels come playoff time.

Re: Sour grapes from Cleveland Indians DH Travis Hafner

Being a White Sox-fan I can be optimistic on the White Sox chances in the playoffs. But I guess some people(like Superstar) are ready to write them off. There are a hand full of teams in baseball you should not write off for the year. I was one who never wrote off the Yankees even though they struggled the first half of the year. Now they are right back in the AL East race and are ready to take the top spot away from the Red Sox.

      So what am I saying?

Are the White Sox a lock for the playoff? So far...Yes.

Are they a lock for the World Series? No by a longshot. But who is? Every team in the AL(including the White Sox) have some sort of weakness that can haunt them in the playoffs.
-The Yankees have starting pitching problems.

      - Red Sox have bullpen problems.

      - The White Sox have offensive defficencies and they have some holes in the starting rotation(Mainly, Contreas ability to be consistant and Hernanez ability to stay healthy).

      - The Angles seem to rely too much on Vlad Guerrero. If he goes down the teams sort of goes into the tank even though they have the talent to sustain his injury. Must be a mental thing with them.

      - The Rangers have the same problem the Yankees have.

      - The Orioles...ditto.

      - The A's have been hampered by their ACE Barry Zito performance. It's taken this team too long to realize that they have to win this without him.

      - The Twins play in the same division as the White Sox. They might not even make it.

      - The Inidans...same as the Twins.

      - The Blue Jays...same as the Twins expect insert Boston AND New York.

Now I'm not looking for World Series respect for the White Sox because we don't deserve it. We haven't won it in 85+ years. But to just automatically write us off as non-contenders is just crazy. Our chances our just as good as Boston and New York. But no one is a automatic lock.
I have more respect for a man who let's me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil. - Malcolm X

Superstar, next time you're at the Jake could you thank the Indians for rolling over for us. Oh, and you do a good job of making Indian's fans sound like complete puds. For the most part all the other Indian fans I have come across on here are quite knowledgeable but for some reason you missed the boat. Oh well, I guess I'll go back to watching out for Mr. Hafner

I am the person that called you IGNORANT. And I stand by my statement.

Coming into a thread I created that was about how Dontrelle began the 2nd half of the season in the worst way, then posting something as stupid as

"Your just a white sox fan..blah blah blah.." is just another reason for it. I see that I'm not the only person who feels the way I do about you. You are one immature brat, who annoys user after user after user...

You and your team are just sore losers, because you guys can't seem to admit that our team is just better than your Indians.

I give you guys credit though, you do have potential. But maybe in 2-3 years. As of now, we're the better team. So please take the stick out of your ***, and accept reality.
