Home team announcers can, and should love their team and sometimes root for their team, but they should also be able to point out the faults in their teams. When Harrelson goes on WEEI claiming the White Sox offense is every bit as potent as the Red Sox, Yankees and Rangers because of Scott Podsednik, it's nothing more than blind homerism.
Now your talking about a radio interview. You just mentioned that you never heard him call a game so you have to give me another instance of why he's such a homer. On the games that I heard he praises the Sox when they do good and he bashes them when the do bad. How many time last year did I hear about the Twins from him and how we never do the little things to beat them. He used to talk about the Twins even when we aren't playing them. And listening to him talk about that, how can you disagree with him? The Twins have been slamming us for 4 years.

As far as the White Sox offense goes, if your just talking about numbers then YES. The Red Sox, Yankees and Rangers have much better offense than the White Sox. Now if your talking about productive offense that leads to wins then I would have to go with White Sox. We can produce runs without relying on the longball. And the reason why we have that type of offense is because of Scott Podsednik. The way Podsednik is playing this year is like a young Rickey Henderson without the power. NOW PLEASE READ THE PREVIOUS SENTENCE AGAIN BEFORE YOU THINK I"M CRAZY BY COMPARING PODSEDNIK TO RICKEY HENDERSON. I'm talking about how he's playing THIS YEAR. Not how he played last year nor what he's going to do after this year. He can get on base and cause pitchers to throw more fastballs and make them pitch a little faster out of the strech, which takes them out of their rythm. Which in term give the advantage to other hitters after Podsednik. So he helps his batters behind him and if that's not a difference maker then I don't know what is.

I'm thinking that's what Hawk meant to say. If not, then he does suffer from blind-homerisim. I feel that Podsednik is the MVP of the offense and that's why he makes our offense productive.

The reason that many people bash on the White Sox is because you guys are very arrogant, but rightfully so. You guys have the best record in the AL but you need to realize that you have not won anything yet. All that matters is October. I think the national attention has gotten to your heads. Your egos are growing at a rapid pase. I am glad that the Cardinals are not getting as much attention as the White Sox. You have to realize that the Cardinals are without 4 of their starters right now. Molina, Walker, Rolen, and Sanders are all on the DL and we continue to win, thanks in large part to our pitching staff. Abraham Nunez has also stepped up in place of Rolen.

In regards to Hawk, I think that his comments about the umpire were very unprofesional. There is no need to curse on a radio broadcast. His catchphrase is also the most annoying thing I have ever heard in my life. Also how is it acceptable to bash your own team when you are losing? Shouldn't you be supportive of your team no matter what? You are turning off the fans of the team by doing this, losing the support of the team and the support of the radio station. Hawk is nothing more than a fairweather fan who needs to calm down and just call the game in a professional manner.

He never cussed. He actually said "BS." Where are you getting that we are arrogant from? It seems like we are just defending our team most of the time.

Arrogant? White Sox fans? PLEASE! How can we be arrogant? We ain't won a championship in like 85+ years. And when do we get all this national media coverage your talking about? Everyother minute ESPN is hyping the Red Sox vs Yankees game of the week for the 100th time this year. When I hear national radio or TV stations talk about who's going to win the World Series this year the White Sox are just an aftermention or honorable mention.

And NOW we got someone who thinks Hawk is a fairweather fan? First he's a homer now he's fairweather fan. Hawk is basically the personality of a typical White Sox fan. Hell, that's the typical personality of any smart baseball fan. We as White Sox fans rip our team when loose and praise them when they do good. And most major league fans around the country are like that. The fans show up when they win and less fans come to the ballpark when they are crappy. Even Yankees fans are like that. The Yankees last loosing season was 1992 and they were 11th in the AL in attendence.

That's the type of fans I like. Rip your team when they do bad so they'll feel it in the pocket books and make them field a competitive team. Cleveland was the same way. In the early 90's Cleveland was always dead last in attendence. Then when they started winning in the mid-to-late 90's they always finished in the top 3 in attendence.

Why do you think the Cubs have a history of losing? Because the Tribune Company knows that whether they win or loose there going to get 30,000+ a game. And the mentality is why should we try to field a team when we're making money whether we win or loose.

So what you call a fairweather fan is a true fan in my book. I love the White Sox whether we win or loose but if I knew that White Sox managment wasn't doing all they could to field a competative team then they wouldn't get a dime from me until they did.

And while we're talking about that it does kinda piss me off when Hawk does that BUT he does that no matter what the score. I've seen him do it when the Sox are winning or loosing. I don't know if he's in the washroom at that time but he's not in the broadcast booth.
I am a huge sox fan so i am not here to rip on you but when the sox do start to lose he quiets down and hardly says anything unless something gets him. I must say he rarely did it this year because they are winning so much, but last year when they were starting to lose it down the stretch, he was doing it all the time . Ex. if there was a flyball to left he would just say flyball out, and there would be dead air for a good 5 seconds then DJ would say some Sox pro comment to break the silence. Thats why just turn the radio on. They are great broadcasters. The only problem there is the delay on the games.

Thanks for being honest, at least someone here is when it comes to his childish silence. Good luck to your guys.

ah yes the old flyball out comment. You just can't do that as an announcer no matter how your team is doing.
