Matsui technically is not a rookie, he played pro baseball in Japan. So yeah, it was a good decision not to make Matsui the ROY.

So did Ichiro and he wont the AL ROY award.

I think anyone thats played professional baseball in the U.S., Japan or Mexico/Cuba should not be allowed to qualify for the ROY award. Unfair advantage to those who havent had that professional experience.

I'd have to say Chacin. I know it may come off as a homer pick but he's only the 2nd rookie (since the award has been handed out) to win ROTM honours 2 times in one season. The other Rookie was Ichiro and I believe he did win ROTY that year. The only way Chacin loses the ROTY is if he totally falls off his wheels. He's looked shaky the last two starts but he kept the Jays in the game both times.

Chacin has been solid, for a rookie, but he has a poor K/BB ratio, opponents are hitting .270 against him, and he has really slowed down as of late. But with that said, he still has a 11-6 record and a 3.39 ERA. I think if he can win half or more of his starts, (probably has eight or nine more starts), and gets his record to something around 17-15 wins, and under 10 losses, he could very well win it.

Yep well he's not a strikeout type of pitcher he's a "pitch to contact" guy. He's one of those that lives on control and craftiness. I think he'll be able to win a few more starts. The problem the last 2 starts have been mechanical as his left arm has been flying out before he fully gets into his motion.

I think it will be Nick Swisher, he leads all rookies in HR's, RBI's, BB's, OPS and SLG. he is fourth among A.L. rookies in Hits, second in Runs, second in Doubles and third in Batting Average.

Sounds like a Rookie of the Year to me.
